DSCC Randy's Tour de la Cobra March 21-24
Announcing Randy’s Tour de la Cobra, formerly known as the 24 Heures de la Floride. March 21-24.
This year the club has changed the name of the tour to honor long time Deep South Cobra Club member and past president, Randy Dender. Randy was lost to a tragic car accident in 2012. Randy was the driving force behind the cruise over the last three years. He loved cruising in his Cobra with likeminded friends, touring scenic roads and dining at out of the way eateries. So, the cruise will go on, just as he would want it to, but will be hereafter known as the Dender’s Tour de la Cobra This year we will resurrect something that was done the first year of the 24 Heures; caravans of Cobras and other participants will start in Tampa, West Palm, Orlando, Pensacola, Atlanta, and other points. The routes and times will be published, and particpants can join the caravan at any point along the route. (We are looking for volunteers to help us coordinate these caravans, so if you are in the areas mentioned and we like to help, we need to hear from you.) All of the caravans will arrive on Thursday March 21st at the Crown Plaza Jacksonville Airport. The hotel has a large parking lot so it is trailer friendly. DSCC has secured a block of rooms; you will need to call to confirm your individual room (877-559-0015 or 904-741-4404). Ask for the Deep South Cobra Club rate, which is $85.00. The address is 14670 Duval Road, Jacksonville, Fl. (The hotel is on the north side of Jacksonville at the corner or I-95 and Airport Road. Cruise sign-in will be set up in the lobby from 5pm till 7pm. For later arrivals, you can sign-in on Friday morning. As usual, there will be guided driving tours on Friday and Saturday. Although the details are not yet completed, you can expect the usual 24 Heures tour activities; great roads, great food, great fun, and great friends. Expect some great drives interlaced with sand dunes, submarines, live oaks, salt marshes, and racecars. And you never know, we might bump into a celebrity on the way, just saying. Florida’s First Coast and the SE coast of Georgia are beautiful and the weather in late March is typically mild and sunny. So get that Cobra gassed up, put some air in the tires, and plan to attend this year’s Randy’s Tour de la Cobra. Point of contact is Ricky Harper |

The trip routes are being finalized...
Swamps, Submarines, Sand Dunes, and Sunsets. Going to be GREAT. Oh, and a private tour of the Brumos Porsche collection and race shop. Y'all will be wanting to sign up for this one! Ricky |
Now that the event in Jacksonville is cancelled for now, does anyone in the Tampa area want to get together in Dunedin or Clearwater Thursday or Friday? How about St Pete Friday for the Cruise-In at Biff Burger? Any other ideas? River Ratz in Nobleton, Bayport Inn in Weeki Wachee? Forecast looks good for Thursday and Friday further south.
