Hey Rick,Mike,Jeff, etc.
Here is the opportunity you have been looking for. A two day driving school , three groups ; beginner, intermediate, and advanced, this weekend at Road Atlanta. There is a lot going on, lunch provided, a banquet (hurry and RSVP for a seat at the banquet) , driver instruction, 5-6 hours of track time (that is a LOT ) . $525 for both days including most food. Host Hotel is Chateau Elan. Say you are with Tracquest for special rate. Cobra Dan, you are excused, but Racerx99 , this is your chance to show the naysayers...... Go to www.Tracquest.com for more info. The best news is that this started out as a "Boxter club" event, and they could not get enough people. Boxters are easy to pass....and plastic Cobras are allowed. Usual disclaimer ( I have no affiliation with this group, but I'll be there... regards, J.W. |
There is a banquet Saturday night that you will miss (but pay for) if you do not RSVP soon.......

John--
I wish that I could be with you this weekend, I am already scheduled for a two day PCA event at Roebling Road. The build is coming along on my new 944 racer, but since its not ready, I'll do the driver's school in my street Carerra 4. I've made a major commitment to getting into racing at the PCA/SCCA level and I'm really having a great time. As a down side, I will be selling my Unique 289-FIA to finance the program. I'll miss the Cobra, but Its served its purpose for the time being. With less than 500 miles on the new drivetrain it is in top marketability so now is the time. Let me know how it all works out. P.S. Isn't the "Chateau" the wierdest damn hotel you've stayed at? It tries for luxury but cries out industrial box. Very strange place. Rick |
Oh boy, you are going to missssss the hissss
|
No doubt, but there is a time for everything and now I'm going racin'. Plus, my new Turbo Carerra gets here in a few months!
Rick |
Well Rick, in that case, can I have your valve covers.....?
|
Sure, But they are very expensive, I'll throw in the car for free.
Rick Seriously, Maurice at Unique had them made by a custom vendor and I am sure that he could put you in touch with the guy. Rick:LOL: |
John,
Appreciate the invite, but I am in Rick's boat and will likely not be able to make it. That said, it sounds like you must have a real good schedule lined up that maximizes track time. Any other dates besides the next WorldCarz at Atlanta Speedway in March that would provide similar opportunity in before then? I am doing a two day PCA Driver's Ed last weekend in January in my 993. Rick, would love to hear what you picked up for a 944. You have a 996 Turbo arriving? Oh my oh my---I'm jealous. |
Toycollector,Rick:
Too bad you can't make Road Atlanta. Roebling Road is great though and I'm sure you will have a great time. We will be having our own private event there the 4th of July (every year) , so keep that in mind. My best time there is 1:12.......and I scared myself so bad I pulled in the pits. to put that in perspective, David Hobbs did it in under a minute in a Porsche 962. Really makes me feel slow. Be careful and have fun ! |
