what size is the best for a trailer 20ft or 24ft with the vfront

Bigger is always better, until it's too big. What's your tow rig?
I cannot tow my 18' vnose fully loaded with my 01 F150 supercrew 5.4. I can tow it loaded with about 3,000lb. but not fully loaded. |
Dang Mike, you need an EcoBoost then :D I've fully loaded my trailer with car, extra tires, tools, chairs....all the necessary stuff for a track weekend with no issues. A couple of other things to consider - trailering to events or to track weekends or both? Do you want any other car besides your Cobra to fit in the trailer? And, as others have mentioned, what kind of tow vehicle? I really like my Serpent Express, another option for you to look at :-)

STEVE, what do you want to haul just your car? The trailer you see me with is an 18 ft V-nose and It pulls very good with my 5.0 4x4 150. Plenty of room if I need to haul other stuff but I just drag around the car.. See ya soon. Chuck

Thanks guys i have f150 eco and it pulled my 28ft travel trailer like it was not there,im also going to use it to move with so car plus stuff so im thinking of 24 but u all got me 20 it is

Regarding moving with it.
IF your trailer is like almost every other trailer out there, you will overload it moving by weight long before you run out of volume. Unless you are stepping up to bigger axles, a longer trailer will actually move less than a shorter and lighter trailer of the same construction. EG. The manufacturer of my 18' puts the same axles under their 16', 20', and 22'. My 18' weighs 3,000, so I'm only good for 4,000 of load. It doesn't take much stuff to blow right by a 4,000lb load. That said, I'd get what's needed for the car without consideration for moving. |
I just purchased my new tow rig and trailer (Nissan Armada / Kiefer 18' aluminum). Sometimes I'll tow with my Motorcoach but that's got way more capacity so I made decisions based on the Armada.
https://mightytext.net/z1RIDQ <-- Image I got this trailer because it didn't have the drop tail (full flat area to use) but did have the dropped axle to lower it to 10.5" off ground. I also got the aluminum because it only weighs slightly over 1k pounds so that leaves me with 6k capacity. I also just bought a hitch that has a scale built in so I always know what the tongue weight is. Works now for some reason. Nice trailer. I have a similar 6.5'X10 single 3,500 axle. Weighs 700 so I get a 2,800 payload. I couldn't afford an enclosed with the same build quality.

I forgot to mention that I'm adding an aluminum tongue box (kinda a V shape) and I'm getting ready to order a Serpent Express Enclosed Cover for it also so even if you go for the open trailer for now you can later add the soft sided cover later. Huge advantage is less weight and easy enough to remove if you needed to haul something with an open trail so it gives you flexibility. |
Something to watch out for are the C load rated trailer tires are terrible for hauling any kind of weight (read cars). This is especially true of the 14 inch tires. If you can, upgrade the tires to the 15 inch E rated tires.

Hi went with 24ft got a good deal im not taking much in the way of furniture,but have 2 cars so it will be 3 trips and for the money i gave i can resell for what i paid or more thanks guys Nc here i come
