Help in Georgia in memory of my father
Hi everyone!
Figured this would be a good place to ask around. Unfortunately my father just passed away at the young age of 54. His dream car was a Shelby Cobra 427. He was always supposed to build one with his father, but then his dad passed. He planned to build one with me, but he left too early. I plan to build one once I eventually have kids. My family is hosting a celebration of life on April 13th and I am trying to figure out how to rent one to take my mom on a drive in to remember him by. So if anyone knows where I can rent one in the Atlanta or North Georgia area, that would be appreciated. Or if anyone had the kindness and trust to rent out their personal car for a day I would be thrilled. Thank you all in advance! -Steven |
First, I'm sorry to hear about your loss and certainly hope that a Cobra can somehow find its way into your life.
I know of no sports car rental places anywhere that rent Cobras. I'm sorry say that I also doubt anyone will loan or otherwise let you drive their Cobra. You might find someone that will volunteer to drive your Mom but I sincerely doubt that anyone would take the risk, both financially and liability wise, to in any way rent a overpowered, squirrely, slippery snake that whispers "I'm going to kill you" every time you get in it, to someone that has never driven one before. |
Hey Tony,
Thanks for the response and kind words. Haha I completely understand that people wouldn’t just lend these monsters of cars out. The only rentals I could find were in Las Vegas or California, so I may just need to fly her out there. Thanks again! |
I am very sorry to hear about your Father and I hope that you can find a Cobra to take your Mother for a ride. I live in Northern California and I don't know of any rental places that have Cobras around here for rent. Las Vegas might be your best bet as our weather here is so lousy that I haven't been able to get my cars out for drives for almost 5 months. I really hope that you can find one to do what you want as that is a great thing you are doing I think. Best wishes.

Sorry for your loss and as one who has lost both my father and father in law at early ages, one who put off getting his dream car and one that only got to enjoy it for a few months, I decided to take the plunge early as we don’t know what the future holds. It will be a little stretch, but you might look up the Georgia Cobra Club on Facebook and see if one of those guys that live in the Atlanta area would give her a ride. As mentioned, I don’t think anyone will just loan their car out for a ride without them being in the drivers seat. Good luck as there are some good guys in the club who might be willing to help.
