I seem to recall the same song and dance from Jim and Dino back in January. It's getting to be a familiar tune...
Then comes the February event and neither one of them could back it up. Boo Hoo

Jim is on his third car ( get this.... He still thinks that the car is the problem  ).
Here is a little tip for you buddy, the car is not the problem; IT'S THE DRIVER !!! :D

Dino, I'm bringing two belts and an extra set of header gaskets, a drop light and tools for working in the dark.
Does this bring back any memories? :

Yep, it will be no competition once again! I'd better bring plenty of tissues for all the crying that will commence once FFR1997K kicks your asses AGAIN !!
And what is even funnier, I'm doing it on street tires and a stock 4 link rear! :D :D :D :D
ROTFLMAO !!!

Look boys, you'd better save yourself the humiliation and stay at home.
More track time for the rest of us "REAL" drivers. Haven't you learned your lesson by now? What's it gonna take anyway??
Jim hasn't, and the steady rotation of cars in his driveway is proof.

Dino is even pondering hiring a driver to get the job done....
Just make sure he knows how to install a diaper on the Beast when she starts to puke all over the track again! :D :D :D
ROTFLMAO !!!

See you boys in June.

Get your Hampton Inn rooms NOW!

I just received a letter from the Gainesville Hampton. The 24th of May,
(this Friday) is the last day that the hotel will be blocking our rooms. If
you have not made a reservation by that date, you may not get a room, or
have a room at the reduced DSCC rate.

I would suggest that if you are even CONSIDERING attending the June 8th
event, that you make your reservation now. You can always cancel 24 hours
in advance.

One more note: Tech meeting on June 7th at the Gainesville Hampton is
at 9pm and mandatory for all drivers and crews. Payment and car inspection
will be done at that time. If you wish to have a catered track lunch, please
let me know as soon as possible. We need an accurate count.

We will start running Saturday promptly at 7am.

Joe Smith 05-21-2002 11:52 AM

Spyderman, you need to attend tech, on Friday night.

ALL drivers must attend the tech meeting, Friday night 9pm, June 7th at the
Gainesville Hampton Inn. Your car will be inspected there, and payment
made. Your car must be street legal to run at Gainesville. We will caravan
from the Inn Saturday morning at 6:30 am to the track.

Engineer Ed 05-22-2002 06:00 AM

Dino,
So, you figure you can beat me huh?
Attended a driving school 'eh.
You need more help than that young jedi.

And if I recall last time at Gainesville, I was a mere 2 seconds behind that Z-06 Vette who wore "R" compund tires and sported an IRS. How much does that car cost??? $60K, $70K ???
Not bad for a Cobra with 4 link, stock brake system and worn street tires.

I'll see you at the track my young apprentice.
Just make sure you are prepared to cry...!!!

Tell you what...
I'll keep those street tires on to give you a chance.
I thought about ordering a nice new set of race compunds, but I dont want to humiliate you guys that bad....

And to sweeten the deal, I'll bring that casae of bud, and even ice it down for the winner.

Cheers,
Ed

CobraDan 05-22-2002 07:22 AM

Ed,
First off I can get a ZO6 for a mere $50,000. First you guys come racing with a stock 302. Then you show up with BIGGER engines. Then you buy racing tires. Then you find you need BIGGER brakes and better fluid. Then you take in racing schools. What's next a Blower and NOS:confused:

Spyderman 05-22-2002 08:22 AM

Spyderman can come up with mufflers but only has race tires, like some of the other fellows. Spiderman does have a tag on the vehicle. How can spiderman win if he can not come? Spyderman is like the fighter pilot on the track, showing no mercy to his prey. Engineer Ed will be driving the train of sorrow as Spyderman bumps him from top spot. Jerry Rowley will need more than secret fuel to go faster than Spyderman. Where are directions to the track ?

Spyderman 05-22-2002 08:33 AM

spiderman, spiderman, fighting z06 wherever he can

Engineer Ed 05-22-2002 09:13 AM

Spiderman,
Have you placed your $50.00 deposit with the DSCC?
You need to make reservations at the Hampton Inn in Gainesville.
We are conducting the drivers meeting Friday night, vehicle inspections and remaining payment of track Fee.
Leaving from the hotel at 6:30 on Saturday convoying to the track. We are getting started early to beat the heat.

The Hampton Inn is located @ 4225 SW 40th Blvd.
Just East of I-75, Exit 384 (old exit 75).
The hotel web site is: http://www.hamptoninn.com/en/hp/hote...tyhocn=GNVFLHX

The track is located behind the Gator nationals 1/4 mile track.
Web site is: http://www.gainesvilleraceway.com.
Click on the "Test & Training Road Course" thumbnail for view of the track.

See you there.

Thank you EE for this info. Have you driven this track ? What gears do you use 1,2,3,4,5 ? Mostly 3 ? I can not use 2nd( I can not shift from 3rd to 2nd, as coat hanger broke) but will do quick trans rebuild if this is a track to be run in 2 & 3. Joe Smith, race tires are O.K. with a tag and mufflers ? Thank you for this info. Can race tires be run at other events if not at this one ??? Can spyderman share room with somebody ? Ed ? I share room with you O.K. ?
Spyderman

Engineer Ed 05-22-2002 09:50 AM

Spyderman,
My wife and I are going to the event, so no room at the inn!
Check with Dino Booth.
He might put you up for the night.

Your car must pass Tech inspection (It must be road worthy). No leaking fluids, battery must be secure, radiator catch tank, no bald tires, etc...).

Depending on your rear gear, (I'm running 3.55), you will need 2 and 3rd gear only.
I mostly use 3rd gear, and shift down to second at the hairpin.
Top speed at the straights has been near 100...

Not sure if this will work for your present tranny.

You can use street tires or "R" compounds, just keep in mind we do not run "official" timing as the track forbids competitive events.
It is strictly a learning session (yeah right).
We do not group into "Race prepared" or "Street prepared".
We just run for fun and use our "unofficial" times for bragging rights.

Spyderman 05-22-2002 10:02 AM

Alas, i do not have street type tires. I can not justify buying street tires for this event. Dino I think will at least let me use his bathroom for a morning freshen up. Good idea bring a girl.....
We need a tire ruling , till then I guess I am out, but will go to Willis 100 for big win there. I hope you guys come to that for sure so we can get together and have some fun.

Spyderman 05-22-2002 10:10 AM

I will try to post picture of the tire

Spyderman 05-22-2002 10:30 AM

oops ,nevermind

Engineer Ed 05-22-2002 11:10 AM

You can send it to me and I'll post it for you.
Click on the "email" thumbnail to send me the photo.
What is so special about this tire?
Webbing?
