If you set this one up I may have to buy or rent a used Cobra for this one. I can't possibly get one built in time. I have driven many of the roads listed :3DSMILE: , several times **) , DO IT. Sorry I missed you guys Sat, I think I'm finally getting over whatever attacked my head and stuffed it with ugh!!

I've been planning this trip for years, but just have never found the time to do it.
If you can set this up, I assure you we will make every attempt to be there! "The Tail of the Dragon", is one T-shirt I gotta have! DV- - We need your support and attendance! Have you purchased your raffle tickets yet? YES! We have confirmed TV coverage and hopefully "Public Service" announcements! |

I just wanted to post to encourage everyone to go! We just had an event there with 70+ Subaru sports cars (WRX and 2.5RS) and had a great time. The highlight of the trip was probably the Cherohala Skyway... it's a WONDERFUL drive. Very open, lots of sweepers and all the corners are constant radius so there is no need for high speed corrections. The only thing you should be specially aware of on the Cherohala is the AIRBORNE ENFORCEMENT of the speed limits. They have a helicopter doing VASCAR from the air. Watch for it! Other than that the drive is perfect... the whole world laid out below you and plenty of overlook parking areas spaced every few miles along the 52 mile stretch.
The Dragon itself can be extremely dangerous for people who have not driven it before. If you want to run the Dragon, PLEASE drive through it SLOWLY the first time so you can get used to the terrain. The unpredictable corners and abrupt elevation changes can create a very unhappy situation when the rear suspension unloads suddenly as you're entering or exiting a corner... **) Anyway, I've been up there about 20 times now and I've never been involved in an accident... primarily because I don't run 10/10ths and I keep my adrenaline in check. I hope you guys have a great time! Keep the shiny side up and watch for those crazy sportbikers in your lane! -Jason Porter |
Keith, count me in too! it sounds like a really neat area to drive through. Please pick a good weather time of the year if you can. I'll bring my top, but, I would not like to use it again. If we could do two days of driving with common lunches and dinners each day, I think we could get a lot of participation. of course, this event would be open to all, even if they do not live in the DSCC neighborhood, right?

Count me in! I was going to run this on the way back from Spring Fling, but I would rather wait and do it with the DSCC folks.
