David, my place is fine. Don't worry about the neighbors, they're used to it :D They have been trained to sleep through anything :D We can then head up to Waffle House and meet chill for a nutritious low fat low grease breakfast. That is the best way lately to get to the track with the construction on 85. Further times and details coming.

OK guys, now comes the time to see how early we want to rise this weekend. I would like to be at the track around 9AM. Working backwards, that means it's a one hour backroads trip plus 30 minutes or so for a Waffle House nutricious delicious greasy spoon breakfast, with 2nd hand smoke at no extra charge. that means leaving my place around 7:05 or so, put's us up at McFarland around 7:30. Can we get a final count on who's going, who's meeting us where?
So far it's: David C at my place then we hook up with chill and cecoen for breakfast? RedUnique--big Easy--you guys in as well?? chipper: do we meet you at the track, or you want to meet for food? ---- David, I can send you directions to my place--you probably go by it on the way to the Cars and Coffee thing. |
Not gonna happen for me...
...sorry guys.....sent TC a note earlier this week. My mother-in-law had some pretty major surgery yesterday, and I have no one to stay with my twins Saturday since she's out of commish for a while and my wife has to be at her retail store all day Saturday. Bottom line....I'm stuck at the house this weekend...bummer.
On the upside, I'll have my two favorite little three-year-old twin boys with me and we'll go have some fun on our own. I'll be thinking about you guys, though. Drive safe and maybe we can all get together sometime soon.... |

As I will for you guys, Michael.... ... and YES! I would love to bring my three-year olds....but something tells me no one else would have a good time! Frankly, I can't wait until we can go on a "guys only" trip with them! Can't wait until our first Oshkosh trip...until our first DVSF trip...they'll both be there - more sooner than later. We'll have such a good time! |

I need a pep talk
It is 12:30 wed night and I am supposed to be at the track bright and early tomorrow. I'm all frustrated about this crap, but it is supposed to be fun and I am fortunate to get the chance in the first place. It is just that I always wait till the last minute. I can not fix a fuel pressure problem , and I guess I will call it a night and try to work on it at the track in the morning. I also got a faxed recall form from Lola on my wheels, dated 1979, and that will have me tossing and turning all night. I just put new tires on those same wheels. All of a sudden I want an MG.

You strike me as someone who does not have to wait to the last minute. If that is the crux of the problem, you know what to do from know on. Last outing for me, I waited til the last minute getting simple stuff like water and my race suit loaded into the truck along with Camcorder, tapes, etc. I only had one day to get ready due to biz travel. Sure enough, for the August event, I left my Cool Shirt at home. Simply would have been better to have done it early instead of waiting to sqeeze it in at 6:00AM. Ahhh, the wheel recall thing...hmmm. don't worry about it--I am sure it is for high mileage applications only :LOL: Plus someone must have done something about it since 1979 %/ %/ |
Ok, Heard from BigEasy, can't make it.
RedUnique? Others? Need to hear from you. Tickets are $25 and get you in Saturday and Sunday. Unfortunately there is no Saturday only ticket. If anyone can go tomorrow, it's only $5.00 I think. Anyway, Dave C will be at my place before 7, we will leave right after that. If no one else is signed up to meet at the Awful House, we may just head straight up and stop for breakfast at will. I will have a race buddy in my car as well. I will have 3 folding chairs and some beverages in a cooler. I recommend hats, sunscreen, and lot's of liquid. Food and beverages will be available at the track. |

Sorry---really wanted to make the RA trip. Sounds like a blast, but circumstances prevail. Hope to see all of you next weekend for lunch and trip to Po Boys car show in Canton. As for the weather forecast, given the amount of rain we've recently, Im not sure it will ever rain again. Have a big time... BIGEASY |
Dave, you're not kidding, where did that come from? I checked the National WX service this am, and no rain was predicted. Now it's 60%. I will still go, but maybe sans Cobra if the weather if that iffy.

Guys, I'm still planning to go and bring my son, John. Since weather is iffy, and Waffle House food always has been iffy, TC, I will e-mail you my cell phone number and if I don't see ya'll for breakfast, I will track you down at the... track.
Call the cell phone on your way through Alpharetta and we can determine where to meet up. BTW, I will likely drive big red (red '96 GMC p-up) and can usually be found at turn 7 or Spectator Hill areas. |
Well, NWS says now rain is 80%. I pulled prog charts from the Hydrological Prediction Center and we got the old stationary front cutting through the middle of the state, with Tropical Storm Hanna kicking up moisture from the Gulf. It may very well be a non-Cobra driving event, but I will definitely go. Rain will likely be the on-off variety switching to all-on late Saturday PM, early evening. The pros have medium confidence even for tomorrow's forecast. Chill, I sent you my cellphone. Dave C, we can drive up in my rig if you want, or take seperate cars if you want the flexibility.
