Derrick,
Sent you an e-mail this morning.
Welcome to the DSCC.
After the Roundup, I'll have some free time to arrange a Cobra get-together in the Tampa area.

We normally run last years Reptile Roundup Poker run and then stop in Wesley Chapel for dinner at Outback.

Robert D just finished his FFR so now we have two more snakes in Tampa.
Youve got my e-mail so we will keep in touch.

See you at the Roundup in three weeks.

Hi to all Florida cobras. I am thinking of relocating from CA to Florida, probably in or near the Tampa Bay area. What are the particulars of registering a cobra in Florida? Most importantly, are there any kind of smog requirements, or anything that would require undesireable modifications to the engine/exhaust?

thanks,

joe kennedy

JPK
Just got my cobra registered a few weeks ago, no smog concerns
as we do not have any inspections now. My biggest problem was that the office I went to had no experience with Kits or Replicas. But if your cobra is registered in Calif. there should be no problem registering it in Fla.

Richard,

Thanks for the reply. Let me see if I have this right. No state income tax AND no smog inspections. What's the catch?

The catch is two Bushes, Dubya, and Jed, I mean Jeb:CRY:

Well, there is (or used to be) a sales tax catch. Depends on how long you owned the car before bringing it to Florida. I believe (but check out their web site), a car "owned" for a minimum of 12 months prior to Florida registration, is exempt. Less than that, you have to pay the Florida sales tax (then you'll find out why there's no income tax).

Note to all Tampa area Cobra's
We get together the First Saturday of each month and attend the Dade City Car Show.
We meet at the 7-11 gas station on the corner of Hwy 54 and Livingston Blvd.

For info, give me call or e-mail.
