Interesting. CSX2465 was a rough ex-SCCA Solo car in Huntsville Alabama in the 1970s. It was for sale cheap but I had just spent every penny I could round up on a 1970 Boss 429 Mustang. The last I heard is was a chassis only on the west coast. The 1970s owner (moved a few miles up the same road) probably still has the 8 mm home movies of the car in action he showed me years ago.

It was a beauty. Outstanding.

CSX 2260
Did Larry Bowman's newly restored CSX 2260 FIA car participate in the races? If so, did anyone get any pictures. I would love to see the car restored in the '65 Radford racing colors.

CobraDan,
Wasn't this coupe beautiful? I was also at Coronado this past weekend. This car speaks for itself. Judge Joe DiLareto loves to talk about his cars. He also owns several other Shelby cars. This car was at a local car show in Corona Del Mar, CA. a couple of weeks ago. I have a couple of pictures of it in my photo gallery as well. |

csx2300 -
I am dying to see pictures when it is done. I love the Radford racing paint scheme. Actually, speaking of Drew Serb, I met him at the SAAC convention last year. He is actually restoring his USRRC car to its original orange with yellow paint scheme - very unique, but very cool nonetheless. Mike |
I am a little confused. I thought Shelby American made only 6 Daytona Coupes, with prices at 3 or 4 mill. It seems there are far more than 6 original 2000 series coupes out there.

Cobrakalis,
There were only 6 ORIGINAL Daytona Coupes BUILT IN 1964-65!! They were: CSX 2287 (first one built, found in So. Cal when the owner committed suicide and the subject of a big legal dispute between the owner's mother and a "friend" of the deceased owner), CSX 2286 (not the first, even though the number was one before CSX 2287), CSX 2299, CSX 2300, CSX 2601 and CSX 2602. Other cars have since been built recently by McCluskey on original CSX chassis (presumably Cobra roadster bodies which were crashed or taken off) or on non CSX chassis. E.G. Lynn Park's Daytona which he subsequently sold was built by McCluskey on a chassis which had been in a fire and the roadster body was destroyed. Tonysshelbys CSX 7035 SFM5S515 |
Guys read the posted letter signed by Shelby and you will know where and how this CSX Coupe was built.

Thanks for clearing that up, Tony. We missed you in Coronado this weekend. Lot's to see!
