Has Anybody in south FL gone to any NASA event

i just sign up to the April 9-10 event on MOrosso, is only 200. for the two days you can get an instructor to ride with you and it is a pretty nice Track.
Has anybody gone to any of this events. It sounds like a pretty good deal to me. I'm also going to the Roush Event on March 25 on Sebring!

#16,
Can you post any info on where to sign up for this event? Thought you were referring to some sort of blast off from the Cape at first.
I have never run the course, but have seen several of the Ferrari and Porsche events there.
I know that the course is pretty wide open except for the staging area that they use for the drag strip, which has a lot of concrete and tire barriers and tight right hand turns. Then there is the far northeast end (dragstrip runoff) with it's swamp (Ed would love it). I actually saw a girl driving her boyfriend's "new" 360 Ferrari, miss the turn and drive right into it - "BIG SPLASH" - you should have seen the mess when they brought it back on the hook; made Ed's little splash seem like a "sun shower" compared to a full blown "hurricane." There are gators in there too; I've seen them!!!!!!!!!!

Terry,
You need to go to the NASA website and then go to the FL events. You need to be a NASA member.
www.drivenasafl.com

And yes that is the track, i was in a Test and Tune a couple of weeks ago and you can hit abou 145mph on the straight away, i think for my car it was a bit better than gainsville, even though a bit riskier (walls ponds, etc) my car has no powersteering and i have pretty big tires so at gainville i was having a hard time turning the car in those little corners. Not that i didn't have fun but i prefer a bit bigger track.

Terry,

With HPDE 1 and 2 you will have an Mentor riding in the car with you. To run in these groups you will need equal roll bar protection for the Mentor. You will have to sign up for HPDE 3 run group because of your rollbar situation.

David,
I have a Factory five Dayona Coupe and i have a full cage roll bar, and with the hpde 1 and 2 they go on the track with normal
street car.

Yes you are right normal street cars do attend HPDE 1 and 2 track events however they have a roof. A Cobra does't have a roof. Cars with out a roof need equal protection for the passenger.
Last summer at Road Atlanta a Friend got turned away because the Instructor would not ride in his car because he only had a single hoop roll bar. The Instructor has the final say in the matter.

I will be running at Moroso in a FFR Spec Racer, Silver #60. Please look me up.

I have been running in NASA events for one year. I did the HPDE events and then the Competition School. I got my license last July and have done about 10 events since then. I raced in Mid Atlantic, Ohio, Southeast and Florida Regions. All these regions are well managed and I have never had a bad experience.

The Florida Region did their first race at Moroso in March. While they were very concerned (almost nervous) about the first race, everything went very well. Actually excellent.

If you are in HPDE 1 or 2 , instructors are generally required. Instructors vary a lot. If you are uncomfortable with one, please speak up. They will make changes. No feelings will be hurt.

Cobramandave made a very good comment about the rollbar problem. The general rule is that instructor should have equal protection. The seat and seat belts should be your only issue.

See you at the track.

EdOrlando

EdOrlando,
I singed up about a month ago, i've been doing some changes to the car so i would see how it performs. I went two weeks ago and tested it at the Roush Perf event and found that my suspention is pretty much done, so i just order new shocks and spring s from gordon levy, the other problem i was having is braking, i'm putting new pads and chaging the brake fluid to a better one, but i think it might be the brake bias and not the pads or fluid. But either way i can't wait to go there.
I have a Factory Five Daytona Blue #16
Cheers!

hey richard nice hearing from you, how is your car? hoppefully everything is good.Cheers!

Pedro
