Anything happening in south florida this wekeend?
Just got the car back from the garage where it had pretty much everything checked over and I am itching to drive it a little this weekend.
Anything happening? I am based in Palm beach but that doesnt mean much. If not I may resort to starting work on the interior but it looks like is will be a little too hot for that! Paul |
I know your on the other coast but your welcome to read the posts at the URL listed and join us.
http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/show...threadid=64441 On August 13, 2005 Saturday we will be meeting at Flora and Ella's restaurant in LaBelle at 11a.m. for brunch. Directions are as follows: Take I-75 N toward Tampa merge onto FL-80 E via Exit 141 toward LaBelle. SR-80 (Palm Beach Blvd. in Ft. Myers) all the way to the restaurant. There’s a traffic light coming into LaBelle at Cowboy Way. About another ½ mile or so to the restaurant on the left, part way around the big curve. They’ve got a pretty big sign out front. If you get to SR-29, you went too far. Remember guys we all know this is the rainy season and it might not be COBRA weather but we would like to see everyone try to attend our monthly events, even if you leave the COBRA at home. |
Paul,
The is a Car Show this weekend at Abacoa contact me for details. The local Cobra guys meet offsite and drive in together so we get to park together. Send an e-mail from the button below. |
If anyone is interested and it does not rain!
On Saturday the 6th. there will be a meeting of 1975 and older cars at the Fudruckers of US-1 in Miami. Usually there are a couple of cobras there. However, as a south florida cobra owner I must say that there not many cobra meets or events down here. Joe |
Paul,
If you want to take a drive Tuesday evening (weather permiting) there is a weekly car show in Stuart at the Treasure Coast Mall (about 1 mile North of the Roosevelt Bridge on US1), behind Sears. The show is every Tuesday night, in the winter they get up to 500 cars. During the summer the attendence drops to about 100-150. If you want to meet up and drive up together let me know. jayb(at)pobox.com. There is something happening almost every week night in the area. |
Abacoa is well worth going to. Good food, live music, and, oh yeah, very cool cars.
Cheers, Richard |
Joe, is the Fudrucker's event held in the evening or afternoons? I'd like to get a group of Miami / Fort Lauderdale Cobra owners hooked up to hold some events .. a monthly cruise to the Keys, down scenic roads like Old Cutler, etc. I've got one buddy with a Unique 427 that is interested. Just got my Unique 289 FIa a few months ago, and am presently upgrading the motor from stock to slightly "tweaked". Should be ready to go by Sept. Let me know!

Since it seems those that have posted so far are on the other coast or north of our local group your going to have to start a local group in your individual areas. If you would be interested in a longer drive you’re welcome to join our group anytime and I post here often to keep everyone up dated for our group. At this time of year when it rains ever afternoon locally, unless it’s a breakfast or lunch meet its rough with a cobra. When our next season starts we will actually have a few snowbirds that bring their cars south, join in all our local activities. If any of you actually start something in your own backyard and it works out, maybe at a later time we can meet half way for a cobra gathering. Keep in touch by posting here at clubcobra, until the next time from the Deeper South Cobra Club.

jaybar you have an email
I live about 100 yards from Abacoa (and have spent many hours in Rooney's!) in Evergrene so this is about as local as you can get, effectively across the road! When aan where is it happening? I have only had the car a few weeks and there is atill a long list of things to do, i.e. NOT a show winner!! Paul PS, split wood steering wheel and authentic shifter handle just ordered this morning from Lonestar! |
Rick,
The cars start to show up around 6:00pm and it usually lasts past 10:00pm. If the weather is good you have to be there early otherwise parking will not be in a good spot.. Will be great to start something down here once it begins to cool down and the rains go away. Count me in. Rgds. Joe |
