New BackDraft Coming This Weekend

Hey everyone,
Just found this forum a few weeks ago and joined.

I have been thinking about a cobra for a while, and after driving a few different ones and doing some homework,,,I bought a Backdraft. It should be here this weekend!
Just curious if anyone on here is in the Tampa Bay Area, (just north of tampa) I am in the Pasco/Hernando County area. Anyone from the same neck of the woods, wondering about get togethers, local car shows, etc.
Let me know if anyone is local to my area.

Cant wait to get her delivered :3DSMILE: :3DSMILE: :3DSMILE:

You want to join the Deep South Cobra Club. They sponsor a great event every year - the Reptile Roundup which this year will be at the Gainesville Motor Speedway (I believe in early November). The club also gets monthly track time at the Gainesville Motor Speedway Road Racing Track during the winter months ('dry season' in Florida). They are not "passing" but running hot laps against the clock. Diverse cross section of cobra owners, a real good time. Club members then also, on their own, will hold "regional" get togethers (i.e. Tampa / Fort Myers group; Jacksonville group; cobra owners in the West Palm / Fort Lauderdale area; and also Fort Lauderdale / Miami owners). Join, attend, and have fun. Rickd, Miami, Fl

There's lots of Cobra people in TB. You should join the Yahoo E group deepsouthcobraclub and PBCOFFROG. Usually when somethings going on it's posted there.

I live seasonally in Pinellas Park and am also interesed in Cobras.
I don't own one yet, but would like to go to shows etc in TB area to see them etc.
Keep us informed.

Further to my post above:
Where did you buy your Cobra?
I am looking, however, I am seasonal in TB area and live in Canada.
As it is now, we can not register Kit Cars in Canada.
They do not meet any Federal Safety Standards, so unless things change, I don't want to buy one in the USA and not be able to use it during the summer at home.
However, things may change and when I fully retire, may spend more time in Florida, or I may be able to store it in Buffalo area and take it to various events in NY Ohio areas during the summer.
Just checking all my options.
Thanks

Hey BEH, not to change the thread but the Superformance line is sold by Macro Autosports in Ontario.

BEH 05-17-2007 09:36 AM

I know.
I went there last fall, but way more expensive than in US, espially considering our dollar.
Also, I don't fit. (I'm 6'8")
I have been in contact with Bob Evans in CA and havn't ruled that out. (he is 7' something and has a modified 289 for sale)
I'm also going to look at Back Draft in Sarassota.
Thanks

Yamazee,
If your looking for some track time, look into www.safemotorsports.com. they rent Sebring, Homestead, and Moroso 8 or 9 times a year.

BTH,
Backdraft is a good choice if you are tall. Many Backdrafts are titled as 1965 Roadsters so you should not have a problem in Canada with that regestration. Ask the Tanpa dealer if he can get you a '65 regestration. If he says he can't send me a pm.

Hi,

I too am going through the motions of determining which cobra to purchase...I'm really keen on the Superformance...I was wondering, with you just having gone through the process, what made your mind up to go for the Backdraft?

yamazee 06-01-2007 04:13 PM

Heidelberg, I drove alot of them before going with the backdraft. I have to say that out of all of the different ones I drove, anything from FFR, Everett Morrison, to superformance none of them was close to the type of ride quality and handling I experienced in a Backdraft. It was also far more comfortable as far as leg room went. I am still going to change a few things here and there to make it more comfortable for me, but thats more personal choice than anything else. Dollar for Dollar, I dont think you can find a better deal out there than the Backdraft car. Go with it, you wont be disapointed, I know I am not. :D
