Hawk Cars

Do any of you have experience with the Hawk 289 range of cars? I particularly like the 289 FIA. One of the aspects of the Hawk range that attracts me is that their kit can be purchased in stages, so that even I could eventually afford it!

I'd be very interested to hear of your experiences, whether you own a Hawk car or indeed any other replica. Also, if you know anybody with such a kit. Building experiences, customer support and driving impressions all count equally, in my opinion.

Any help would be appreciated!

Have a great day.

Hawk FIA

Just had Hawk FIA delivered. Body and chassis with Le Mans hardtop.

Jag back end and Hawk tubular front suspension.

Kit superb, service brilliant.

It's not going to be cheap but what the!! I'll finish it next year.

All the Hawk owners I've spoken to tell me the kit is easy to put together as long as you take Gerry's advice - he's very free with it.

Contact Gerry Hawkridge at Hawk - his numbers on the net. Great guy to talk to - very keen to help.

Good luck - get one built and I'll see you around.

Jack

Hi Guys.

I've just finished building an AK and I must say it went together really well.

I collected my kit on 7th February and I legally got it on the road at the end of august this year.

I would recommend having a look at them too. Also GD and Dax may be woth a look.

Built mine for around £12,000 which is good for a Jaguar based kit.

FIA Jack. Where in Yorkshire are you? I live in Morley near Leeds. Just off the M62 if you are in the area and fancy a cup of tea sometime. Give me a shout.

Which engine and gearbox did you plump for?

Congratulations on your steed. I hope it brings you huge quantities of pleasure! I know it would me!

As this is a US site. I should tell you that I have a Buic 215. But really it's a Rover 3.5.

All standard except for the inlet manifold and 4 choke webber.

Vince.

How can FIA Jack have no posts....when his post is at the top of this thread??????

Good luck with the build, Jack. Go on, make it a 39 PH replica!!!!

Excaliber 08-18-2003 12:40 PM

After FIA Jacks post (this IS an old thread after all) the "server" crashed and many people lost their "post count". I would assume we have not heard from FIA Jack since then OR his user name has changed.

We have already a copy of 39PH, the owner is Herrmann, but he can't understand english.

nikbj68 08-19-2003 06:59 AM

Ah yes. That looks so good, but then it should considering how hard Gerry worked with Nigel Hulme to replicate the original.

I even spoke to Gerry last year about ordering one, but unfortunately a property sale that was to fund it fell through. I have now around a year to wait until I`m in the position I was then.....but guess who the first phone-call will be to??!!

I have seen many pictures of your replica, and apart from the spotlights, can barely tell it from CS2131!

One day.....

NIKBJ68,

I haven't posted here for a while but noticed your encouragement about 39PH. Good from someone so close to a real one.

I'm not sure my FIA with a hardtop would pass muster as a replica of such a famous car. It might capture some of the spirit though - time will tell.

I'll try and post a few pictures as I progress further (I moved house last year if your wondering about the delay - not recommended in the middle of a build).

Again, thanks for the encouragement.

yours

Jack

All the best with your build, Jack. The 'over-the-pond' people don`t seem to understand just how much it will cost to fill the tank of a car over here, Looks like you will have quite a thirsty set-up there!!!!

I look forward to hearing that the Beast is ready to roar, do you have a colour in mind?
Keep us informed as to your progress, please.

I SOOOO wish I was in a position to get a Cobra of some sort.
I have managed to get my Father so wound up that he went & bought a 5.0 Mustang convertible (All his budget would allow!) but I have yet to see it!
