Small Block ERA Webers Radiator Cap Rating?

Bob, what Radiator cap pressure rating do you use with your Small Block Weber operated cars? I have a 16 psi. with a 195 thermostat.

We normally use a Motorcraft RS-62, which is a 13psi cap.

Thanks! Where are you placing the Thermostat? I have attached mine to the end of the Y-manifold but the motor likes to expel coolant when under hard acceleration on the street. Yes, i wait until everything is good & warmed up. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

The closer to the engine, the better. What remote thermostat setup are you using? Is there a bypass built in?

I just built a custom manifold & attached the 195 thermostat to the end to fix the problem but it doesn't seem to have done the trick. I have no bypass as of now. I stole the idea of wiring the thermostat to the manifold from Rick Parker. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/s...7/ppuser/24567

Now that's interesting! You will definitely need to find some way to bypass a small amount of water directly around the thermostat. Otherwise the hot water will never get to bathe the wax bulb to effect the thermostat opening.

You need to put in a bypass hose. Rick and I had the same problem with the dual outlet Weber manifold. The temp would not go over 140 on my ERA. I tried different thermostats like Moroso and Mr Gasket, nothing worked. I tried a regular thermostat with a 3/16 hole drilled through the face and the temp would not go over 170. I put in a bypass hose with a Mierze inline thermostst housing and a Napa Super Stat 180 thermostat and it works fine, stays at 180. The ERA radiator is huge.

So the bypass is necessary! Kinda what we were thinking.. Thanks for your input!
