Thanks for the link. There are some nice seats available, but you are right, not inexpensive ! TKB |

Sorry to hear about your computer, hope you get things back up and running soon. I would be very interested to see your seat setup, especially the mounting bracket. I have a 36" inseam ... and long in the torso, so I have the opposite problem! Look forward to seeing some photos ... thanks! TKB |
Tim:
One other possibility to consider: Use the ERA FIA seats that come with your roller---with a twist: take off the vinyl and have them reupholstered. I used mine for a year, and now that my Cobra is getting painted and I have the seats out I'm getting them reupholstered in black leather with French seams (stitching straddling the seams, with no piping). Cost is $250 per seat, which is much cheaper than buying a Kirkey aluminum seat ($250?) and then having them upholstered ($?). I'll post some pictures once I get my seats back. I'm also having some padding added to the back and putting in a firmer pad for the seat. DD |

That's a very good price for leather re-up provided they do quality work. And a major HEADS-UP for new leather owners; while working on the car, never slide into a seat with a 9" screwdriver or safety wire pliers in your BACK POCKET. The sounds you will make are inhuman... How do I know?? |
I went with a local guy. I've seen some of his work, and it looks nice. I'm looking forward to seeing them when he's done (as well as seeing my FIA painted...).
I'll keep the tools out of the back pockets... DD |
Doug,
Great idea, I will be very interested to see how your seats turn out and how you like them. I think working with what comes with the roller makes sense, then take it from there. Chas ... doesn't sound like a pretty sight ... the ol' back pocket sneak attack on the seats  |
If you want to "customize" your seats I can loan you *Bob*. - my master fabricator for any seat mods you may need. -- right now Bob and I are working on the footwells and pedal box of my CSX. ( started on Sat ) -- !
What about a pair of rat-rod bomber seats with a thin shell of leather and foam on them>? |
Steve,
Could be a good option, thanks. I need to come by and check out the progress on the CSX ... I bet you are up to your usual cycle of tasteful and functional upgrades :) |
You betcha. -- upgrades galore.
Foot box / pedal mods, Kwik-Wire harness with modifications, - 130Amp motorcraft 3G alternator, vintage-air heater systems, etc.etc. I should put up a thread. Steve |
Steve,
You should ... there are a lot of us that would be very interested to see how your CSX build / upgrade is going. :) |
