Heat Shields for an ERA

Who makes side pipe heat shields that will fit and ERA? I'm building an SC 427 with an FE and ERA's side pipes. I'm sure I want to protect lots of riders from serious burns. Will the shields sold at FinishLine work?

I'd be greatly surprised if ERA couldn't supply them for you.

Hurry up Bob! Before the resident ERA representative gets here!

Do I win a prize? ;)

We've only got the one home-made set that we loan out for - uhhh, never mind...

Uhh, you mean Rick Lake? He and I prefer welding blankets. Although I have to say that ceramic coating the pipes really reduces the burn.

Yes Bob- you made it THIS time. But one more lapse and Peter will put a "Counselor Pat" sign on YOUR desk!

Actually, while Bob's here ask him to have Ted make YOU a set. They'd really compliment the dual hoops nicely...you just can't tape foam on them though.;)

No not Cranky (that's Roger and John, denizens of the Club of the same name)-I was perplexed about the secret project you're developing for ERAs in your Schmuck Werks. But I finally figured it out.

To wit; an under-dash Eight Track Tape player to enjoy your "Zamfir Plays His Greatest Pan Flute Hits" tapes on the way to restaurants!

Except for those Bad Boy solid lifters clackin' away...

If I'm going all the way back to an 8-Track then I'd have to put "Frampton Comes Alive" on it. That was "standard issue" when I was in high school.:3DSMILE:

The banter is great, but...

Hey guys, hate to interrupt your kidding, but I was hoping for some factual feedback.

Has anyone used the Backdraft hardware on an ERA? It looks like a good set at a reasonable price.

Still looking for side pipe shields

I thought I would try to re-queue this question: I've got and ERA SC427 witht he ERA side pipes and I know I need to heat shields to keep my marriage intact.

Whose shields will fit the ERA pipes?

Does anybody know?

kgs365 04-26-2011 07:13 PM

The backdraft site said they fit 4 inch diameter pipes and the are 26 inches long. I've got a pair that I plan on using on my ERA they are nicely constructed

Most any shields can be made to work. Most all are held on with hose clamps and if the clamps you get with the one you buy are too small just get larger ones and use binder hardware to make them work.
