Side Exhaust - Heat on Paint

I just had my Cobra repainted - is there a way or a product that can protect the paint from the heat of the side exhaust pipes - as they come off the header to the side of the car for about 6-9 inches. It takes a while, but the heat tends to destroy the paint in that section over time.

Thanks for any input.

My BDR had the headers within 1/4" of the body where they exited and never once did the paint get damaged.

I thought my (white) paint was getting scorched from the heat of the sidepipes (the paint was taking on a brownish cast), and I, too, was at a loss for what to do. However, under the category of "No amount of planning will ever replace dumb luck" I stumbled across a solution that at least works for me. I was cleaning the oxidation/discoloration off the pipes using Borla Exhaust Cleaner & Polish and accidently got some on the paint. I wiped it off using a microfiber cloth, and the discoloration on the paint was gone! The paint seemed to be OK, and it sure looked lots better than before.

The Borla stuff is a little pricey, but it works like a champ for cleaning up my stainless sidepipes, and although I couldn't find any recommendation for use on paint, it works on mine.

Thanks, Borla sounds like a good find for pipes.
