Red indicator light on an FIA
I realize that the red indicator light on the FIA is not wired into the charging circuit or any circuit. Why is this?
Have any you guys use that light for anything else? |
My red indicator light (in ERA2041) comes on when the lights are on. Other than that, I don't know the purpose of the light......

It's probably an ignition monitor lite, on with the ign key, off when the gen or alternator come on line. If you are running a single wire alternator, there's nothing to connect the lite to. On some converted alternators, the "I" and "F" terminals are still intact, but have a black rubber plug covering them, so you may be able to connect the lite to the "I" (indicator) terminal and have the lite operational.

Once upon a time, I believe the light was used as a brake warning light. I think they quit doing that though when they upgraded the switches down in the pedal box.

It is for the kynooder valve psi release

If its not being used for any thing else you might consider making it a low oil pressure warning light. You will notice a red light coming on long before you see the needle on the gauge go down especially if your on the track.

Would it take much to make the charge light functional in an FIA?

and A wire from the warning light to the VR and A wire from a switched power source to the warning light. Look at page 8 here. |
Thanks Bob, that is a nice write-up.
