*This piece is obviously not the best cosmetically, coming from some very crude molds, but you can get an idea of the final finish. http://www.erareplicas.com/427/spat.jpg As far as them being removable, most of my planned methods wouldn't do damage to the paint, but would require a little time and care to take off. This one is temporarily stuck on with a couple small pieces of double-sided tape. |

I recall seeing these on a guy named evans car from NJ.a yellow ERA The problem is the on and of is to time consuming. With the one I have it takes seconds on and off and do not look as modern.:D

The official Peter-price is $150/pair. If enough people are interested, we'll get the molds perfected. Delivery won't be for another (roughly) 6 weeks. Hmmmm - I might try laying some up in 'glass with aluminum pigment to see how they look.

Why not take it all the way to the bottom and also keep the top a little more straight so it covers as much an area as the height would allow. I want to be able to cover the area I already patched up and believe it or not, after all the trouble I went through I still picked up a chip higher than the spat you picture. TURK |

Just spray the tread of all the tires with Armorall before going for a drive. This should eliminate the pebbles sticking to them while at the same time providing a more "stimulating" environment when negotiating around turns.

The shape of the prototype was determined by how much room I had standing in front of the band saw. There's lots more material to grant your every (size) wish. (Not including your personal size, of course.) :D |
Or, Just sell the tires to one of our many racers and buy regular tires for the street. I'll bet there are a lot of guys here who would buy them from you who race their cars on a regular basis. This way you don't have to put all that stuff all over your car.

I wouldn't mind selling the tires to "one of many racers" but I can't find any. All I found so far were a bunch of middle aged men with Cobras with little motors, who dress up like something out of the Racer's Edge and stick some decals on their cars and go Vrooom vroom. I took the cheap way out.....drive the car and see where the rock chips occur. Mask off the area and sand down slightly....coat with 3M stone guard and paint. Mask off an area about 1/4 " larger and clear coat. Looks ok and is easy to touch up when you get more rock chips. Morty did this to his car just to make it look like it had been driven, course it was behind the front wheels....since his car rolls the fastest when being pushed out of the trailer (its down hill). Need to redo mine soon....down to the gel coat, damn desert sand. |

That is almost exactly what I ended up doing. Unfortunately that too chips, and underneath that, is the yellowish color. The only thiong good about it is, due to it's rough surface it is easier tro touch it up without being so obvious. TURK |

So clean and shiny....blinds me in my one good eye. Morty, I wouldn't think of repainting a "team" car with out checking with you first....only the parts/areas that might need it. I think I have a few races yet to go. How abouty the color...match the orange stripe? Turk...you might watch the leading edge of the doors...they can take a beating also if they are not flush with the body. See attached......Franny...peddle fast ...I have a big file to send. |
