Passenger Seat Orientation
 
I had the tunnel out of 154 to replace the speedometer cable, and when I went to put the passenger seat back in, noticed that the seat angles toward the door (away from the tunnel). I looked under at the mounting holes, and it's designed that way. I have tried to find other pictures showing the angle, but haven't been able to. Is this for E-brake clearance? It look like I could straighten it out and still have clearance....
I was under the impression the seats faced directly forward, what gives?

You just noticed this? :LOL: Both of my seats angle towards the doors. It puts the seats in alignment with the narrow footwells (that are towards the outside of the car). I believe your car is the same.

Let's boil this one down in the interest of time:

I am glad I could get some humor going with this question! I can't say I noticed before, but I do now. I assumed the reason was the shoehorning of the motor, but since I hadn't noticed before, I thought I would ask....

Yeah - they aren't angled the same from side to side either - the passenger sits a little farther forward and angles out a little more. Of course when I noticed this I wrote Bob to ask if something was wrong and he informed me it was suppose to be that way. He probably gets worn out answering the same questions from us year after year. :)

If you want to get a real feeling for how much the drive train is angled set the tunnel standing up with the transmission flange on the floor. A real eye opener.
