ERA in canada
 

Hi guys,

im planing to realise a dream soon! Do you guys know if i can import to canada a "new kit" from ERA. I know that ffr kit are avaible but i prefer the ERA authenticity.

By the way, i could also be looking for a complete car (completed and titled since at least 15 years to meet transport canada regulation). If you know of one let me know. (PS, im looking cobracountry every day)

Not an ERA, but this original AC MK IV can most likely be imported to Canada as it has it's emissions intact and is documented all the way back to when it was ordered and built in 1986. Plus, it's aluminum ;)

That ccx is indeed really interesting. I dont know much about Contemporary Classic. From what i read, ERA are good handling/solid car that duplicate the original really well. How about the Contemporary Classic? Are they still in business?

A well built CCX car is on par with a well built ERA car. But they are no longer in business.

No, Contemporary Classic is no longer in business. But they have an excellent reputation for having built one of the most accurate (and respected) replicas in the business. Mickmate (Nick Acton) is one of the CC members who keeps all these CCXs in good nick (no pun intended).

As with all Cobra kits, it all boils down to who built the car and how well it's been maintained and used since.

Apples to oranges. You cannot compare an ERA to a Contemporary. While ahead of their time, Contemporary is old, the body isn't like an original, and you cannot get any customer service or parts anywhere. If you really want an ERA, talk to Peter about the feasibility to import an ERA to Canada.

A beautiful CCX car, of which there are some, will beat a POS ERA car, of which there are some. Even Bob P. would agree that if you stumble upon the right CCX car, at the right price, it can be just as good, or better, than some ERA cars -- not mine, of course, but some:cool:.

Beat it at what? As far as the 'right price', that could be anything, including 'free'.
Contemporary was the first replica Cobra that got my juices flowing for a Cobra, but seeing one now doesn't compare visually to ERA, although the frame resembles an original. The body just doesn't cut it. It looks more lika a BDR. The Jag front end also leaves something to be desired. Apples to oranges.

....I haven't worked it out yet. What's a "POS ERA"?
