Filter for fuel tank vent
 
I just had my car checked out by an old-school carb guy (Ole's Carb Shop in San Bruno) and he mentioned among other things I should put a small filter on the end of my fuel tank vent line because it could suck in road debris etc. He said Steve Moal (- Moal Coachbuilders - Oakland CA -) uses a tiny K&N filter, but I couldn't find anything. Anyone dealt with this or have any ideas? Thanks.

Unnecessary. If you feel you must, put a snippet from the end of a nylon stocking around the open end of the hose.

I have used the little sintered bronze exhaust mufflers for compressed air from McMaster.

I used a little hepa filter paper wrapped around the breather/tipover valve.......(you better have one on the breather)
there should be a little wire gauze filter in the tipover /breather ...wrap the whole valve with the hepa and use two of the very small zip ties ..... be sure not to block the little breather slot with the ties ....I mounted mine high in the wheelwell ...as close to the filler as posssible .
also aim the hole towards the center of the car....away from the wheel to minimize the dirt path....

This is what I use on my fia`s .
The valve stops fuel from running out if things go wrong and you find yourself upside down..

Remote Mount Rollover Vent Valve

Some type of breather might help keep the fumes to a minimum and prolong fuel life.

A small piece of 3M Red Scotchbright works just fine as a filter.
