39 degrees with brisk winds - Cobra still gets to play
The top and curtain look is growing on me. Lots of attention with this look at Cars and Coffee this morning. Glad I got to sport the accessories that people rarely get to see. Glad I was warm, too. The under-dash heater kept me cozy.

I could see where this look could grow on you. Are the windows and top storable in the trunk? Is the exhaust noise noisier or quieter? Cost? Presently I have no top or Tonneu cover. I could have used this coming home from Summerrun in New Hampshire, I got hammered! Took me a full week to dry the car out |
Just got in from a run myself - 45 degrees this morning - no top, just the fire from my 428 keepin me warm (and a hat too). Couldn't have been any better!

Yes, you can store both in the trunk with careful folding/packing. Exhaust may actually be louder depending on if the side windows are cracked open or not. The cost is expensive, especially after custom fitting. I don't recall what ERA charges for this. My car also has the fitted tonneau cover. Can't see how I could drive with it, though. My seat is all the way back, so where do you store the driver side when in the seat? Love it! You can also find a local upholsterer who can fit these items. Being that I assembled my car 3000 miles from ERA, this was really my only option. Price wasn't bad.
The silly part of the whole adventure was that I ordered the top through ERA. The top is manufactured by a company who was 5 miles from where I work. So, it shipped to CT & back to me in CA. The top had 6000 miles on it before it was even installed. I certainly didn't mind. ERA adds their parts to the package & probably ensure that it's all correct. Just found it funny. |
Installing the top and the tonneau is not hard for an owner/builder who wants to do so--just take your time and follow ERA's instructions. I spent about two days on the tonneau, and about a week with the top. Both came out looking good.

I installed the tonneau with the help of a friend in about 4 hours, was not too hard. Being that I was only 4 hours drive from ERA, I opted to have Jack install the top. He had it done in a day! Looking forward to getting some side curtains in the near future. I have driven in 35 degrees with no top or heater, it was rather cold. Now that I have a top and a heater, with the side curtains it might be too warm ;)
