Lemans Hard Tops

Does anyone know of any companies that have built recent Lemans hard tops for a ERA? Its getting cooler and I am curious of options.

I had my top up and side curtains in this week, which I do every couple of years, and I think it's just as good as a hard top (which I had on a Datsun 2000 Roadster). The top up, side curtain look, is quite funky, and really turns heads as well.

Agree with Patrick T -- soft top and side curtains are the way to go when you need (or want) a top.

I'd like to do a hard top, someday. The ragtop is a little finicky. I love it, though.

A Tip on the Soft Top

After ten years of fighting the top to get it up and fastened properly, and suffering numb thumb tips in the process, I finally stumbled on the solution. Now I just put the soft top up, without the aluminum bows in, and fasten everything down, AND THEN put the bows in from inside the car. This works like an absolute charm and is 1000% easier than the traditional method.

I use a slightly modified "Patrick" method to get mine on. My bows don't have enough shortened thread range to get them in using both sides so I put one side of the bows in the ferrule and leave the other side free. Once all the snaps are done I put the other side of the bow in with the assembly leaning slightly forward and then cam it upright and let it slide into battery in the ferrule. Saves hassle and fingers.

My top is on 99% of the time. I've had it off & on w/o issue. The biggest problem is running it on the highway w/o side curtains. The buffeting top is unnerving. Especially watching the windshield flex. Having a hardtop would let me run with no side windows & a nice breeze.

So far  I've not had any problems installing my top as ERA basically suggests. Install the main bow with the rear one folded up against it, lay the top over it and install the front bow on the windshield leaving the clamps loose, snap down the rear starting in the center, push the rear bow back to the window and secure it, and adjust the main bow up with the adjusters until it's tight. I haven't broken it out this fall yet but the last couple of days have me thinking about it.

Mike installed a hard top on his B&B about 18 months ago and has not taken it off. He drives every day that it does not rain.

Every day

No side curtains. He does have wind wings which help keep the wind off your right ear.
Coach Mike used a Ape hard top on his FFR and his Hurricane for several years. He put it on in the fall and removed it in the spring. He too drives year round.
Note added: he has curtains but does not use them.
