Replacing Steering Rack Boots
 
I need to replace the boots on my steering rack. Before I dig in, are there any tips, tricks or words of advice to help make the project go smoother?

Summit Racing has the correct boots. Flaming River boot #FRTS1856.

Real straight forward job. If you carefully measure and count threads you should be able to do it without having the toe reset. It took me less than an hour to do both.

Thanks for the input. Hopefully there's no more than 10 threads showing, or I'm going to need an assistant! :LOL:

Some come with the metal bands to secure them to the rack, some do not. I like to double wrap with stainless safety wire but not not over tighten. I'm not sold on Nylon Tie wraps for this.
