Thank you for your service to our country and great luck to you and your build. Looking forward to reading about it.

BTW, instead of using Buick in your "comfort" analogy, I think the better modern comparison would be Lexus. :D

lol, yea I thought about that, problem is, the engineers at Lexus have *allowed 0.00001897% of an "engine like" sound to be transferred into the cabin via Bluetooth during "spirited driving". Even though its below 1% it counts as engine sound, so Buick still reigns as king of the silent ride.

*driver will receive a text message warning of pending engine like sounds.

Put it on your fender, but make sure it's a high optical quality convex lens, like this: http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/all-...lly-works.html

and you probably don't need the outboard braked rear, but it is mucho cool and fun to play with.;)

For mirrors, my next ones will be these:

HOME

They look much more functional and are not too obtrusive.

Phil, those are a little too big for my taste, if im seeing the correct ones. Looks like they are at least twice the size of the other ones?

Through the looking glass...

This is what you want, and this is what you should have. You have two choices, spend $400 and get the Talbot. Or read my other thread and duplicate it exactly, both in looks and optical quality, for about $75. Trust me, it makes a world of difference.

I have the windshield mounting that Dan has and from my perspective the mirrors are near useless and you cannot get enough turn on them without getting into the side wind wing. I hardly ever use mine and the cheap versions break easily when torquing down. I lost one this weekend. Having said that, if you can a convex (I think that is right) lens they may provide better viewing.

Patrick's may work better on the fender, but a lot of guys don't like the thought of drilling in the body for the mirror. The ones I posted on above will work, but don't look period correct. Sometimes it's hard to balance the two. Perhaps a lens change is easiest to maintain both.

Patrick, If there's a picture attached, I cant see it because im at work, Uncle Sam blocks all indications of fun. Ill take a look when I get home.

But, I like your power of suggestion (direction)...."This is what you want, and this is what you should have." I almost fell into a trance when I read that sentence :)

Maybe when I get 3K posts ill be able to do that also.

Phil, I agree. I don't "want" to make any extra holes.

Ah, i see the picture now....looks good. Im still in the decision stage on those right now. I dont "want" them, but if the state requires them, then that may be what i go with.

Either way, your wisdom will pay off.

Peter was reluctant to say at this point, but it was 820 something. He did say at this point it may change.

Phil

I shimmed mine out on the mount as far as the threaded stud would allow. It works fine but just barely.

Gregg(What's his name)? 06-22-2016 03:41 PM

I ordered mine on the 8th of June and it was #821. So maybe a couple of Army guys get 821 and 822. :D

In a world of the color blind maybe.

I have the windshield mount as well. I wouldn't drill a hole in a fiberglass body let alone an aluminum one.

Gregg(What's his name)? 06-22-2016 04:53 PM

I am heading up there again in November to give him more money. :P

I have had enough of OD in my life time, so mine will be Brilliant Black metallic pearl with Wimbledon white stripes roundels and a double red team stripe on the car. Also white roll bar and pipes. Basically the color of my car now. I love this combo.

If you do it right, you'll never have to do it again and it will look splendid. You just have to do it right... and preferably the first time.
