Coremat question

Anyone know the thickness of the Coremat that ERA uses to protect the fenders? I'm asking for a friend who is building a non-ERA car and likes the idea. He's found 3 and 4 mm thick Coremat but, although I can't measure the thickness on my car because it's glassed in, it appears to be much thicker than that.

Thanks,

Kevin

It is much thicker than that. Here's a pic of it. It's the orange stuff.

I saw that and agree it looks much thicker than that. But no thickness dimension is given and that's what I was looking for to pass on.

I think it's about as fat as my little finger.

Hi Kevin,
I do not have a number on what size the ERA Core is, but I can say your friend should be safe with the 3 or 4mm. It acts as a spacer between the glasswork of the body, and the encompassing glasswork to prevent shock transfer of road debris. An 1/8-3/16 should be plenty safe as long as he doesn't saturate the core material.

Good luck,
Mike.

Hurricane used Coremat on the underside of the fenders and it looks to me to be about 1/8" thick.

FWIW, we use 4mm Coremat.
