Misc questions...
Bob, a couple of stray questions...everyone asks what this car is and it gets tedious at every stop light, etc. Do you guys have a tasteful ERA logo that can go somewhere for a time? Besides, this is the best car on the market and folks should know it. Also, I thought that my electronic rev limiter kicked in a couple of times in lower gears before the tach needle hit red line. Could it be that the standard issue SW tach doesn't keep up, or was that not likely? (I'm not that old and slow yet) The Boss motor pulls strong up higher, and it has the Richmond 5 speed. The tach was stored in controlled surroundings, but there was a long delay in building the car (career change and move). Do you think that it just needed to get driven..thats not a problem now... Thanks.

'09,
I would trust the MSD rev limiter more than the tach, but I haven't heard of any lag problems. Driving only customer's cars, I never go over 4500 rpm anyway - it wouldn't be easy to explain a thrown rod and I would only scare myself anyway... The ERA logo problem is interesting - I don't know the best way to be subtle and obvious at the same time. Maybe with a dash plaque not unlike the original Shelby one. |
Bob my builder up here spoke of the very same thing happening to a friend of his. The rev limiter going to work before the S&W tach registered the offending revs.
He calls them lazy tachs as a result and is really not to impressed with S&W at all. What do you guys at ERA think of the new Autoline knockoffs of the cobra vintage gauges?? They look nice and muct be bang on. Tim |
Tim,
I haven't seen the Autoline pieces. Who carries 'em? A web search got me nowhere. |

HEY BOB,
THE "DASH PLAQUE" IS A GREAT IDEA. YOU MIGHT ALSO CONSIDER A "VINYL STRIP" FITTED ACCROSS THE TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD. VERY EASY TO REMOVE AND RE-INSTALL AS THE SITUATION WARRANTS. LIKE ALL ERA DRIVERS - I'M VERY PROUD OF MY CARS - AND WOULD LIKE SOME ADDITIONAL IDENTIFICATION. Y'ALL HAVE A REALLY GREAT DAY, BLACKJACK PS: TURK WANTS IT TOO BUT HE PLANS ON CHARGING YOU, BY THE MONTH, FOR ADVERTISING. ADDITIONALLY, YOU CAN HAVE PETER SIGN THE DASHBOARDS IN SILVER CRAYON LIKE CARROLL DOES AND CHARGE A FORTUNE. JM |
BLACK JACK
The only reason "Peter" does NOT sign the dashboards is because he is a poor speller. He signed mine "Richard". I have been trying get it off the dash ever since. TURK:3DSMILE: |
