ERA 289 FIA - Wheels

OK Guys,

Another question for you to consider and advise.

What wheels would you use on a period correct ERA 289 FIA and why?

You have a choice of,Hallibrand,Vintage and Trigo.

All would be 6 pin Starbursts with Spinners to suit Jag Axles.

Thanks

David

Either source them from ERA or call Bob at Vintage and tell him you are putting them on an ERA. Both methods will result in the proper machined backspacing and fitment.

I would like opinions on Vintage and Trigo FIA wheels. What are the differences? Better finish, lighter, stronger, better fit etc. Not at the point of ordering wheels yet, but looking for input and comments.

Both wheels are perfectly acceptable. I can't say for sure, but I think that Vintage's wheels have a better finish, but Trigo's are actually closer to the original "crude" racing finish. Very subtle though, and most people couldn't tell the difference without a side-by-side look.

if it should be period correct, neither of those wheels are correct, due to material and dimensions, period correct are FIA magnesium wheels in 6,5“ and 8,5“.
Trigo and Vintage are only available in 7,5 and 9,5.
you can purchase 6,5 and 8,5 aluminum wheels from Gerry Hawkridge (Hawk) UK or
magnesium wheels in 6,5 and 8,5 from Crosthwaite and Gardiner UK or Marvic Italy
