Era #183
Anyone know the whereabouts of ERA #183? I put an all aluminum 488 FE in it, along with a contemporary watts link for the Jag rear, along with 17" KOs and JFZ front discs way back in '93. Would love to get in touch with the present owner. Wimbleton white, tan leather with a solid teak dash when I sold it.

Are you sure it was an ERA??
I can't envisage a Watts linkage (or a teak dash) in an ERA....
Cheers

There was a replacement for the Jag hub that had a massive horn on the top, that the watts pivot attached to. Arms ran fore and aft of that to chassis attachment points. Located the top of the hub very positively, and made a huge difference in ability to apply power. Even on a hard launch, no wheel/axle hop whatsoever. I would recommend a watts link for any of the jag rears under high powered, sticky tired cobras. I installed another similar watts link under my current cobra (Unique).
The teak dash was in the car when I bought it. It was fashioned from a single piece of teak that must have started out at 10"x8"x54". It was hewn out in perfect form to make the contoured dive into the outside corners. I agree it doesn't sound "right", but seeing is believing. It was really nice.

According to my records, the car was originally sold to Cobra Restorers, then went to someone in GA. It disappeared after that.

Chuck Gutke built the car originally. Had an all iron 428 cobra jet. Built it for David Kaler in Port Charlotte, who later sold it to me. I had it in Ga, Fl, and Ohio. I sold the car in Fla, but it went to NY. That's the history I know.
