I would be interested in one also.... just need 48 more.. haha.
|
Yeah, well two does not make it happen! Many times we have had people say they WANT something until it was time to pay for it, then they don't really NEED it! (see thread on on magnesium Halibrands wheels)

Question
Isnt the FE alternator a three wire? 289's were the one wire? The majority of the pullies are also bolt on style? With larger pullies for lower rpm on the alt. 289's pullies the press in type, 427 bolt on. Am I wrong? |
I’m not an expert on Cobra 427’s but I thought the alternator had changed to a bolt on fan/pulley by the time it was produced. No?

My thoughts too....
Original S/C and comp had three wire, these were concours (not concourse) cars |

The cobras equipped with an alternator all used a 1G style which was a three wire alternator (remote voltage regulator) This style was used by Ford thru 1985, well outside the cobra timeframe.
Some of the early 289's were equipped with generators, but models soon switched to Ford alternators. |

Warning: "Concours", not "Concourse" unless your car is sitting in the common area of a mall or such:D |

BTW, I have the last DST press-on pulley. Still in the box, never installed. Purchased it from Tim Mason from old stock.😀 Larry |
Oh yeah. And don't forget the "AUTOLTE" stamp in orange ink on the alternator housing.
I bought a stamp some years ago on e-bay which had the Autolite name, the correct alternator part number and amp output on the stamp. Completes the look. Cheers Greg |
