Rear Brake Light wiring question

Would it be as simple as tapping into one of the three red wires leading to the rear brake/signal light in the trunk on the drivers side to power a third brake light and if so, which of the three would be used?
Thanks in advance,
Gary

Not unless you want your TBL blinking with your turn signals.;) Instead, tap in to the red wire leading to the trailer relay at the base of your steering column.

That's what I thought Patrick, just needed confirmation. Thank you.

There are two spare wires in the harness (one for a fuel pump, the other for backup lights) that can be used to do Pat's method.
Alternately you can take power from both rear signal light wires, using diodes to directionally limit the current to the 3rd light.

Thanks Bob. I've used the back up light wiring already, NY requires a backup light. I'll hunt down the fuel pump wire.

BB,

You'll have to cut (intercept) the blue wire at either side of the 28/53 junction to make the new connection.
