Keeping Bob Busy
Bob,
Things have been very quiet on the message boards for you. I have to believe that you have some free time. My mother always gave me a list of things to do when I had nothing to do. Not that I am your mother, but it was a good lesson that I apply when I come across people not doing a whole lot. Can you -- 1) Check to see where I am in the que? 2) Check to see where I am in the que? 3) Determine how much longer I am going to be waiting? 3) Give me a date which I can see a piece of metal bent into something that will be my actual car? 4) Provide a prescription that will easy my impatience? 5) Reassure me that I will actually get a car? Thanks Jamie W. :p :D |
Some people!
When I was waiting for my car..I never made a pest of myself.
Are you still waiting for a car? Altogether now..      TURK Besides what would you do with a completed car this time of the year in CT? |
Turk:
When you were waiting for your car people considered a long quarantine for you. It was not until after you got the car that it became apparent the quarantine is still being considered an option. :D I could do a lot with the ERA in Ct. right now. Weather ain't to great, but I could start building the thing. There are actually lots of things I could do, such as; -- respond to the threads asking which makes are better and why. My ownership pride when the car is completed will make me an expert an all things Cobra. -- I could turn into the Evan H for ERA and ask everyone if there car is an original ERA or a replica of an ERA. I am not sure where continuation ERA fall though. -- I could call ERA A LOT more to ask A LOT more questions than any customer, east or west coast, ever has. I hope this helps you to understand Mr. Turk. Now -- have a good day driving your car and leave me alone in my downward decline of the dread cobraitis disease that may kill me before delivery. Bob: Answers please, answers my friend, just some answers ---- aaaaahhhhh....... |
Geez
I hadn't realized you might have a heated garage! What is it up to now out there? 12-14 degrees above freezing? I am kidding with you but down deep inside how well do I know what you are going through... If you don't have an ERA serial number under #600, you more than likely will have a replica ERA. No you can't turn into another E.Harris. It wouldn't be pretty! One is plenty!! Have you even given any thought to maybe attending a day or teo of DVSFII in June? TURK |
I would love to attend DVSII. Having me around for two days begging for a ride would be ugly though. I want to make friends not suspicitions:D
I will be on a honeymoon for two weeks prior to the event and then right after the event date I have to go and participate in another wedding. I am not sure that my future wife will go for it this year. As a matter of fact I know that she won't. As it stands I am going to go to Carlisle for the first day, May 17th and I am getting married May 18th. Wait till she hears about that. She will chew off enough of my a$$ that I will not have to worry about fitting into a Cobra ever again. I hope I make it back before the rehearsal. Is ERA going to DVS? If he is, I am definitely going to take a pass on the event. He seems like a nice guy from what he writes and his picture and all. BUT, wearing those panties on his body and then on his head after supplying you with enough natural gas to circle the country tells me he has other issues. I have enough issues to deal with let alone be around him with his issues. :3DSMILE: |
I have asked Peter repeatedly that he SHOULD attend.
It is really not a selling event and there were no obvious presence by manufacturers, but the comraderie and the friendship should see to it that no manufacturer could afford not to attend. Some of these guys travel great distances for heck of a lot less exposure that what will be there at DVSFII. He said he would let me know. Lucky fellow that he does not do Internet, I would be torturing him daily until he said "OK, I'll GO". I might get a chance to meet you at Carlisle. Will you have your car done by then? As for the ERA Fellow...If we can sneak out of town without him noticing we will. I couldn't see us sitting in an airplane with him. There are federal laws against activating the Oxygen Masks without the pilot saying it is ok to do so. What does he know? Besides I am not sure ERA535 would be able to clear the EDDs. (Explosive Detection Devices). TURK Happy wedding(s) and a fun filled honeymoon. |
Winter in CT
Well, winter in CT is not what it used to be. This year has been quite warm, little or no snow....
BUT... one new Cobra was born - CAR #611. Although not near finished, (pending arrival of the seats) This is the first project car that my brother & I ever worked on. ERA has THE BEST KIT you can find & well worth the wait. My brother & I did everything except bond the body to the frame. We picked the roller up 10/2001 - spent 340 man-hours on the body, and 150 on the mechanical so far. The engine is from Danbury Comp. The engine came to life 1/27/2002 with zero leaks or problems. The whole neighborhood knows it runs now. Good luck and hang in there. |
Todd:
What exactly did you do to the body for 340 hours? Does that include paint? I can not let my fiance' her news about no 340 hours. eeeeck -- it willb e all over for me:CRY: Jamie |
Like I said, we never did anything like this before.
And living so close to ERA, I see their cars every Saturday when I bother Peter. I set a goal to make sure that my car equaled an ERA "turnkey", thus taking so long to prep & paint. The results are awesome. If I can figure out how to post a picture I will. Good Luck A more experienced person could complete the car much faster, |

Now don't you get yerself all in an uproar. As one who has managed to remain married to my first wife for more than 27 years I'm here to give you a little advice; SHE does not need to know how many hours it takes to do anything. All she needs to see are the results and to have the knowledge that you are happy. I subscribe to the "Jay Leno Theory:" One wife, many cars is a lot cheaper than the reverse... Fact is I had just such a discussion with the BOSS this evening and she went on record in support of my automotive mania. 'Course one of these days I'll haveta fess up and tell her that I've had a ERAMKIIGT on order for the past couple of years as I put together the FIA. Life is short so, ya got to be look'n down the line to the next project... and the one after that... Morty MacTavish |
JWheaton, I know what you mean. My dad put an order in back in August. I think we are about half way there. The wait will make it that much sweeter though.
