Gas Tank Issue
I have ERA FIA 2022 and have issues with emptying my gas tank.
I believe the ERA gas tank is 19 gallons but usually the best I can do at fill up is 12-14 gallons (actually the pump auto switch off triggers at about 8-9 gallons and then it is slow rolling after that.
The issue was compounded when I added fuel injection; the FI doesn't like when I get toward the bottom of the tank and the fuel starts sloshing.
Anyone else have this problem?
I assume if I added a small gas reservoir in line from the gas tank to the fuel pump, this should resolve some or all of this issue...anyone have any advice or can share what has worked for you please?

How is your tank vented? Usually, when I see or hear of such issues, it has to do with the way the vent for the tank/fill tube was installed.

MM is correct. This is about the best pic I have of my vent hoses but the ERA manual goes in to detail on how to do them, and ground the outlet as well. Note that there are three vent hoses (one is hard to see in this pic as it is in the back). One is a dribble drain to the ground, the second is a tank vent hose and the third is a tank vent to the outside.

I can see it on two different machines. Even my cell phone. Something must be blocking your access to the pic server. Are you on a computer at work or anything? |

Might be time to add some nylock nuts and get rid of the Ace hardware supplied units as I see signs of leakage....

I would bet the tubes are either not hooked up properly or they're clogged. Now, I will tell you an unusual story about those tubes. A few years ago I was jacking my car up in the middle of January or so. The car had not run since the cold weather started in November. As I got one side of the car nicely jacked, so the car was at a good angle, I heard the distinct sound of what seemed like a cup full of fluid splatter on the ground -- just like as if you poured a cup of coffee on the floor. I went over to investigate and there was a nice puddle of gasoline under the vent tubes, maybe a quarter cup. The tank was maybe half full. I cleaned up the gas, blew out all the lines, couldn't figure out how it happened, and it's never happened again.:confused: |

Bugs love to find small areas in which to lay their eggs or build their nests.....Once a year I blow mine out, you do not need a lot of air pressure, just enough to make certain they are not clogged with debris.

Unlike what is shown (That's the 427 in the pictures above.), the ERA FIA and Slabside have the filler cap (with adapter) connected directly to the top of the tank. The only venting is done in the cap.

FastD,
I really can't figure out why this should happen.
Fill the tank, wait about 10 minutes, then look down (or use a dip-stick) to check the height of the fuel in the tank. Maybe the one-way doors are stuck and not allowing fuel into the side chambers. I've designed in small bypasses to let the fuel even out, but they're small and won't keep up with a gas station pump.

It could be a venting problem. The actual gas cap is vented, however it is located inside a tube that has a sealed flip top filler lid, essentially sealing the area the cap vents into. I would drill a small hole in the tube that connects the tank to the flip top filler to vent the area the vented cap sits in.
