ERAGT 2077 no parking/panel lights
1 Attachment(s)
Some of you may know I have recently acquired 2077, Jim Holden's phenomenal dark Gulf car. I am beyond giddy about that :) I am going through the car now in preparation for the TX state inspection. All is in order except I have no tail lights/parking lights/instrument lights. All of these are controlled by breaker #7 according to the wiring manual. Breaker #7 does not appear to be popped, it is flush with the panel, like all the other breakers. I would simply like to swap it out, either with a new breaker, or with maybe an unassigned breaker (#2) to see if it is defective. How do I get it out of there (see pic, it is the third one, with red wires) without removing the entire dash? Or is there another failure mode I need to check out first? Bob?

Usually Patrickt would have chimed in by now on this but maybe the small block car’s wiring is just enough different that he can’t. I know your above picture doesn’t look like anything behind the dash of my 427 car - at least that I recognize. I would try to call Bob at ERA and see if he can help you trouble shooting it.

Not only has patrickt never laid hands on an ERAGT he has never even seen one in real life.

I'd check continuity to the brake light switch, then the headlight switch, as the circuit runs through the headlight switch (competition wired, #32 vs street wired #31) without the wand, with the multi function wand, it would be labeled #72. Talights would be #96 for left, #95 for right , I'd also check the multi pole connector for that specific harness to see if it came undone. I have access to the wiring diagram for the car if you want a copy, let me know via PM (owners only).

Thanks guys, so I downloaded the wiring manual (former ERA Owner y'know) and determined that everything controlled by breaker #7 was dark. In the photo you can barely see #7. It is the third in line from the left. With some difficulty, I undid the retaining ring and pulled it out and disconnected it. Bench tested it for continuity, tested good, re-installed it, and the circuit started working  So I'm good for now. Don't know how I'd get to any of the breakers that are further down the line tho'. Hope I never need to.

That was the odd thing, Bill. It was not popped. I'm thinking maybe a corroded spade lug that just needed to be re-seated. |
