Mounting Fuel Regulator
I am need to mount a fuel regulator to the fuel line between mechanical fuel pump and carb. fuel rail. I was thinking mounting it on the driver side interfender. Is there any other places to mount the regulator.
The reason for the fuel regulator is that pressure is over 5 lb.of pressure. |
I have always mounted my regulators just before the carb, AT THE CARBURETOR.
There's no reason to have 3 flexing rubber fuel lines, 1 to the pump inlet, then pump outlet to a solid mounted regulator, then flex line back to the carb. Of course we need to know what carbs you have, what regulator, what engine, and what fuel pump please. Gary |
If you're using Webers, try to mount the regulator at the same level as the carbs. If you mount it lower, you'll lose about 1/3 psi for every vertical foot.

The carb is a 750 vac secondary . The fuel regulator is a Holley pressure 4 to 9 no return line. The fuel pump is a carter just replaced last fall. The pressure bounces around from 5 to 9. So I am installing the regulator. Looked the manifold to mount the regulator couldn't fine a place

FYI: I installed a Carter electric fuel pump in my Cheetah. A few hundred miles later it began to run badly. After a lot of troubleshooting I determined the fuel pump was sending about 10 PSI to the carburetor and overwhelming the float valves. I replaced it with a Delphi unit with the same specs and have had no trouble since then. I paid a little more for the Carter because of their reputation. Perhaps they are not what they once were.
