Pivot Bracket for Lakewood Bellhousing
Hi Bob,
Do you know if the throw-out fork pivot bracket you list (Ford Part C8AZ-7522B) for the FIA car will work with a Lakewood Bellhousing? I purchased the thow-out fork from ERA (C80Z-7515D.) Thanks, Greg |
Greg,
I think that the bell housing must be drilled to mount the pivot bracket, but I'll ask Doug when he gets in this morning. We've been using internal throwout bearings on our in-house stuff for a while. The pivot bracket is no longer available from Ford but we're making a repro ourselves if you need one. |
Bob,
Thanks for checking on this for me. But now you've done it... you opened a new can of worms for me to consider. What are the components and part numbers you are using for the internal (hydraulic) throwout bearing setup? I'm curious what bellhousing, clutch, throwout bearing combination and assembly details you guys have put toegther to work well. Also, does the standard master clutch cylinder that comes with the kit work with the hydraulic throwout bearing setup you use? Sorry for all the questions, but I may want to forgo the master/slave setup if you folks have an alternative setup worked out. Thanks, Greg |
Greg,
The trans you're using will determine the best approach to the throwout system. If you are using a deep bell housing (T5 or Tremec), the concentric release is the easiest system. Using a fork requires a spacer under the pivot and fiddling with the slave bracket. Details for mounting are at http://www.erareplicas.com/427man/clutch/conc_to.htm We use Weber/McLeod (714-630-2171) pieces, #1405-30. It's got an extra-long line. If you are using a 4 speed, you can drill a couple of holes in the bell housing to mount the pivot bracket. I've got a pattern if you need it. |
Using RG-5
Bob,
I'm using a Richmond Gear 5 Speed. Do you have any "best" throwout systems for that trans? Thanks, Greg |
Greg,
Just use the standard throwout arm and pivot with the Lakewood/Richmond combo. |
Go to go
Thanks Bob. I'll stick with the standard setup. I'll ask Peter to include a copy of the drilling template when I order the pivot bracket.
