PS Engineering contact secrets?
Does anyone know how to speak with the people at PS Engineering? Nobody seems to answer their telephone during regular hours. I have left a couple of messages w/ my phone number but no one returns my call. Are they still in business? Is this any reflection of their product or service.

Scott,
Just stay after him!!! Phil Schmidt (PS) is pretty much a small shop with only one or two folks helping him. Once he gets your order, depending on the style of wheel and size, it may take awhile to receive your order, but the man is a true craftsman. I have a set of FIA wheels from him and they are gorgeous. His product sure is tough to beat. You may find a better price, but he is second to none in quality. I'm going for a second set of wheels (Kidney Beans this time!) later this year. Keep calling him like your a telemarketer. Put him on your speed dial! |

Phil (AKA PS Engineering) IS a one-man operation. He runs his own errands, does his own paint, etc. Be patient. His work is impeccable, and he is a good guy to deal with. I'm very happy with my PS Wheels. BigMike |
PS Engineering
Phil may be a little difficult to reach, but his work is outstanding, and you will be happy with his products. He is a meticulous craftsman, and strives to make things "just right". I know he'll deliver - I have SEVENTEEN (at last count) of his FIA wheels in various sizes (still trying to convince him to make an FIA style rim in 17" dia).
Keep trying, you'll get him eventually. The "really good stuff" is always hard to get, anyway. regards, cobrajeff |
Finally was able to contact PSE. Received their product flyer and would like to use their BRM wheels on a GT40 with the Wyer flares. Can anyone give a good reference on available 15" diameter 315 tires for the street? I'd rather not run race tires if possible.

Me too, cobrajeff
Cobrajeff,
I have a set of 17" (427SC style) PS Engineering wheels on my FIA, but would really, really like a set of 17" FIA style wheels. I'll bug Phil about it too, and you can please mention to him that there are others that are in the market for 17" FIA's when you talk to him. Take care. Greg |
Not too much selection in ultra wide street tires for 15 inch, nor 16 for that matter.
I found a NOS set of Jongbloed built BRM style pin drives for my GT40. Fronts were 16 x 9.5, rears were 16 x 12. Due to the lack of tires for the rears, I ended up having Jongbloed spin new 17" rims for the rears. Left the fronts at 16". Michelin, Yokohama, Pirelli, Bridgestone, etc. all make suitable tires to fit 16x9.5's and 17x12's. The nice thing about the Jongbloed wheels is their modular 3 piece design. Need a larger diameter, or different width or offset, just get new new rims spun. I think Jongbloed gets $800-$900 per wheel (Magnesium centers, aluminum rims). It cost me just over $400 per wheel for the new rims. http://www.jongbloedwheels.com/jong_vintage.html Dave |
Does PS have a website?
I would like to see his wheel selection. Is it on the internet any where? John McMahon- Do you have a picture of those kidney beans your reffering to? I would love to get a set of those! |
Info
Tongue,
I have asked that question before. It appears that PS Engineering does not have a web site. When I posted this question I was given a link to American Speed Specialties which is not PSE. I think the only way for information is to call for a brochure. Mike |
Eminem,
Thanks. I guess I could also stop by his shop. I am in the area. |
It says right on American Speed Specialties website that they are the distributor for PS Enginerring wheels.
All wheels on this website are from PSE, so I don't know why you'd need the brochure. I looked at the pics decided on the type of wheel I wanted and call Phil. Phil knows most back spacing requirements for most replica manufacturers. http://www.cobra427sc.com/html/racing-wheels.htm |
I was thinking of Kidney Beans on an Fia car...
Anyone have pictures of such a combo? |
does anybody have a phone number for phil schmidt........Thanks Lou
|
Lou,
The number is (310)534-4477. Call early in the morning (0700-0730), because Phil likes to get in early and leave early. |
