Opening for Foot Peddles
Bob, is there any kind of cover or gasket to close the opening in the floor around the peddles? I feel a fair about of hot air entering the footwell even after connecting the fresh air hoses.
Thanks as always. |
29,
A little dum-dum around the brake line and brake switch wiring harness where they go into the brake box should complete the seal. Also consider putting some thin insulation (like the footbox stuff) on the bottom side of the floors, in the front section. |
Brake Box ???
Bob, I have a 4" by 4" square hole cut into the florr board over the brake and clutch pivots. The peddle shafts rise through the floor board through this hole. What does a "brake box" look like? Is this a cover of some type? BTW what is dum dum?? Other than me.

29,
Do you have a cover (this is an FIA - a little different in detail) over the brake master cylinders? http://www.erareplicas.com/fiaman/brakes/cover.jpg and on the 427: http://www.erareplicas.com/427man/brakes/brakebox.gif |
No Pedal Cover
Bob, I do not have a pedal / master cylinder cover as shown under the car. I assume such a cover is available from ERA for the 427SC? Should there be mounting bolts / nuts in the floor board?

Oooops.
 |
535,
The covers were always standard, so somebody lost yours along the way. If you need one, e-mail Bryan (brybdp@aol.com) so we can come up with a price. |
Aren't we talking about a TOP cover?
I thought at first Cobra 29 was referring to a TOP cover for the pedal box opening. I know that one came with my car, but somehow, I misplaced it.
I finally got around to fabricating a replacement. I took a sheet of aluminum, about 7" x 11", and cut slots in it for the pedal arms to move in. I then riveted on small strips (about 1/2" wide) of aluminum on either side that secure a strip of thin rubber (about 1.25" wide) that overlaps in the center of the opening. This allows the pedals to move, but seals out any heat (and dirt, dust, etc.) coming from below. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...70footbox3.JPG If you really don't have the lower box, I'd start there, but then I would add a top cover, too. regards, cobrajeff |
