I have this dry sump system which has a gear to drive a pump (see picture below). Please excuse for pic quality.

Is this gear driven by a gear drive timing system ..like Milodon?
What do you think this system was used for?

had the same on a drag boat engine when I ran in fuel class

So how does the system work? Am I missing any parts?
How is that gear driven? So many questions and so few answers.

I'm planning on using this system in my FPSB.
