Bob,
I was admiring Chaplains car. What a beauty. i noticed another one in your shop that is painted a very dark blue. Can you tell me what color that is? and do you have any additional photos that I can see? thanks in advance... all best, Blake |
Uhhh. Dark blue? %/

Blake-
I can be a little more helpful than Bob- it is a very nice dark blue;) |
Ok..Ok...is it that you honestly don't know, you you just don't want to tell me?
blake :D :D |
Just don't want to tell you:D No, just kidding, honestly don't know. If I had to guess, I would say it is probably the same dark blue that was used on originals, but I am not sure. In person, it looks similar to the dark blue that SPF uses (Royal Blue?). You're not thinking of getting rid of the silver are you?

I am...love silver...but that dark blue w/ white is right on time!

I don't think ERA like answering the "What color is it?" question. I believe it says something to this effect on the website. Being that they don't paint the cars in house & due to the fact that many people probably like to use up their time just to ask questions like this is probably the reason. You might try to find out if the owner is a member here & direct the question his way or call ERA's painter. Good Luck:)

I think that car belongs to John Brown. If it is, his car is the same color combo as my (long gone to Italy) ERA427SC # 267. My (very vague - after all it has been 13 years) recollection is that it was a Ford (say 1989) twilight blue pearl. John used the same color combo for his car. Outside in the sun it really is a very nice shade of blue metalic and the pearl makes it really pickup highlights. But you need to see the car in person, outside in the daylight. Colors from brand to brand change slightly and look different on different shapes and, differently indoors v. outdoors. The fellas at ERA are very careful about not quoting colors because oft times the car owner has modified the paint choice without telling them and, frankly, they don't want to be responsible for setting you off in the wrong direction. I, on the other hand, have no such reservation (about heading you off in the wrong direction, etc.) Jim PS: John's car is at ERA now, so you have an excuse to go up and pay them boys a visit. |
Nightwatch Blue, I'd bet.
I almost painted my ERA this color, and last minute changed to Silver. Nightwatch Blue is a color they use. It's very similiar to the darker blue you see on some of the X-cab GMC trucks a few years back, also used on some 87 Dodge cars too I believe. . |

I think there are two blues. One is the "nightwatch blue" that you speak of, but the other is the color that I and John Brown used. When I get a moment to harrass PEPI up at ERA I'll have him dive into his file drawers and pull out #267 just to see what it was... if he has the info. I know that at the time, I had a number of "test cards" done before the car was painted and at that point no one else had used that shade of blue. The car was painted by someone who no longer does them for ERA. Jim |
