Era #002

Hey Bob!
I've got chassis #002 listed for sale on here. Just as a hoot you should check out the pics. Was ol' number 2 the first one sold to a customer?

Doug,

As I remember it, the first car (EXP 1) was a customer-built car. We still service it ocassionally.

a friend owns era # 005, which is alive and well in Detroit...looks as good today as it did in 1981-82 when it was built locally by 2 guys . i believe it was the first true kit sold . it was built in detroit, went to calif and returned to detroit about 2 yrs ago. it still has original paint and glass/body/fit and finish is perfecto. a tribute to era quality then and today...keep em going bob, and good luck selling 02 doug ! as timex used to say, takes a licking and keeps on ticking...also living proof that true quality is ever lasting when cared for. era should be proud that the early cars are still burning gas and standing tall. bill

Doug,

I own ERA EXP 004 and it is in great shape as you can see from my gallery. The old girl is sound and responsive and has given me much pleasure on both street and track. A new paint job is in order but other than that the vehicle is in remarkably good shape. Quality in, quality (and pleasure) out!

Cheers, Pete C

PS Where are the pics of 002?

Thanks for the responses guys. Old 02 has been a lot of fun over the years and will be sorely missed if I do sell it.

Sorry Pete, I missed your question about where the pics of 002 are. Go to www.geocities.com/cobra427_1966/mycar.html or you can find them in here under cobras for sale.

I have #003 built in '82.

I believe it originally belonged to Peter's brother.

You can see some pics in my gallery.

RED

Bob,

Why are all the first ERA's red?

An explanation of "coincidence" is not good enough answer either :D

Bob...
The question has come up numerous times about when chassis # 002 was built. Can you answer that?

Doug

Back in '81, when 002 was built, people had a lot less imagination than they have now, color-wise. For the first 5 years of our production, I bet 60% of our kits were painted either (resale) red or Guardsman blue with a white stripe. Now, fortunately, there are so many examples out there with alternate colors, I have regained use of all my vision. :MECOOL:

Thanks Bob.
