Smith fuel guage
Bob,
Please help me with my Fuel Guage. I double checked the connection at the tank and it seems to be good, how do I trouble shoot he guage? I have 12.4 VDC at the guage with the key on. The guage reads nothing it seems dead. |
Are you feeding the guage through a Voltage Stabilser? That should output around 10.5V from memory.
Even without one, the guage should read, if inaccurately. If you short the sender wire to earth, you should get a needle deflection (probably violent, so don't hold the short for too long). If not, your guage is u/s. It is a Smiths guage after all. Sorry. HTH |
which sender wire?
under the car? under the dash? |
Bob,
Maybe you can have Brian send me a guage? If it is not the guage I will send it back. This seems to be a good place to start. |
Mike,
I've posted a preliminary page here. I've been a bit rushed on this, so I'll review and improve the page as soon as I can. Since no one here does my work when I'm on vacation, I came back to a very large mess. |
