Depth behind panel

Bob:
For everyone else, I've read all the pros and cons about radios in a Cobra so lets not beat this thread to death with opinions.
That being said, can you give me an estimation of the clear depth behind the driver and passenger side foot boxes where the optional speaker cut outs go? Everything worth looking at has about a 2 1/2" mounting depth.
Thanks,
DonC

Don,

I installed a stereo in my ERA, with speakers in the footwells and in the rear bulkhead. I can't remember the exact depth, but think it was close to 2". Bob did provide me with the actual depth.

There are speakers that will fit, and although they may not be the best quality, it won't matter much cause at speed you won't hear much.

I am glad I put in a stereo and even happier that I did not spend much money on it.:D

Two inches is about the safe maximum. Here are a couple of shallow speakers from Crutchfield.com

Bob:
Thanks again for the information and for the reference. It'll save me abunch of search time.

Hey Rick,
Completely off the subject - would you mind sharing the color code for the Titanium stripe on your car?
Thanks, Phil

CobERA 09-08-2003 04:07 PM

Phil - Paint Codes

Phil,

The GM paint codes for the Indigo Blue are WA 9792 and the PPG code is 4717.

The Lamborghini code for the Titanium is 210.600 and the PPG code is DBC 35989. I also have a Dupont code of FO924.

Rick,

Thanks a lot for the codes. My car went to the painter last Friday - I had the correct code for the Indigo, but nothing for the Titanium.

Thanks again, Phil :D

My front speakers are small units mounted in the dash, left and right, by the way.
