ERA - Pop Rivet Question
Hi Guys,
I had my car assembled to a roller by ERA and I'm very glad I did, it _looks_ like a car already. Now I'm getting ready to start painting it. Bear in mind that I have undercar exhaust so this isn't hidden by side pipes. There are a bunch of pop rivets along the bottom of the body below the door, and a few more in the lip of the engine compartment. How do you think I should handle these during the body work? Can I safely bondo over them or will they crack out? (seems likely). Can I drill them out and put them back in before I shoot the color? (that's probably my favorite idea...) What do you guys think? Don't bondo over the rivets - it'll crack eventually. We just paint over the rivets wherever they are. That's all they did on the original carss.
I like to flat-black the flange below the rocker panel to "hide" it better. |
My car is a street version 427.
Those rivets have always bothered me as well so I've chosen to hide them with side pipes :) |
