Fuel Filter Question
Hi Gents:
My ERA has an in-line WIX fuel filter which fits in between the rear fuel cell and the chasis mounted firm line. It is coupled to the line with rubber hose and clamps and is the typical setup, per the manual. I was given both a WIX and FRAM fuel filter number to use as replacements from the previous owner of #375. This filter is most easily accessed by the removal of the driver's side rear wheel. Other than the WIX and Fram filters, are there other types of fuel filters that I should consider? I am using the mechanical fuel pump on the 428FE. Was wondering if one of those nice Mallory canniser type of filters would work? All ears as to what you guys are doing in that area? |
Like you, I'm just running a fram canister type filter secured by rubber hose and hose clamps. When I was installing it, it looked to me like it might be prone to rattles. To avoid a potential rattle (not that I'd be able to hear it over the side pipes or anything), i bought a sheet of 1/4 inch thick rubber. I cut it to the size necessary to wrap it around the filter and then I secured it to the filter with tie wraps.

Thats a good idea chris... There is not too much space in there.
Somehow I do not think we can hear that rattle... Has anyone gone "beyond" the inline filter? If so, with what and where is it mounted? |
