ERA - Dash Removal?
Did you all remove the (installed) dash to wire it? If so where did you disconnect the steering column.
(Looks so pretty in the car I hate to remove it!)

I suppose it's possible to wire the dash in the car but I wouldn't even consider it. It's sooo much easier to see the wire connections when the dash is sitting on a (padded) bench.
Disconnect the steering column clamp connections at the forward end of the footbox and at the dash cross-brace. If you have a glovebox, leave it right in place. If your fresh-air cables are connected, unhook them from the valves.
It's easy. :cool:

I just finished most of my wiring & installed the column in my FIA. It is very uncomplicated to pull the upper column & dash. This being said, I would hate to even try to do any wiring with the dash installed. Of course, you could be a contortionist :confused: :LOL:

Thanks all. I pull it out tonight. It looks easy, I just hated to disassemble it bucause it looks so good. I can see I won't regret it.

When you reach the point where you are ready to make the connections through the dash, put a good size box in each footwell with towels on them to support the dash while you make the final connections. There should be enough slack in the wires to allow this and when ready it is then a simple matter to fit the dash back into position with all of the connections made.

Good idea with the boxes, but that just leads me to one question. Haven't been able to convince the better half to lend a hand in the garage yet?;) :)

Let us not let this discussion descend to a level that is base, crass and otherwise unworthy of the high level of behavior and decorum generally displayed by (most of the) members of this august organization.
While my spouse has been more than willing to assist in my little motormannia projects when no other option is readily available (bleed brakes, etc.), I impose on her as little as possible knowing that "there's a price for everything" thereby seeking to not give her impetus to make yet another trip to Neiman Marcus in retribution...

PS: And just to indicate what I am up against, my spouse was quite distressed when the local NM became part of a "mall." She thought it "tacky."

Wiring and ERA is so easy even I can do it. Just follow the instructions as hard as that might seem.

I bought a lift to assist in the build. Before the 428 was installed, I wired the dash without removing it. A little tight, but I'm a big guy with big hands (and big gloves!). The heater went in but had to remove the bottom screws and tilt the dash out a pinch. But not all that hard. Even the wiper setup went in without too much trouble. My only complaint is that the heater goes on when I use the left signal and the lights go on when I turn the wipers on : )
(jes kiddin, it all works fine thanks to the simplified wiring harness from ERA)

I wish they showed pics of the Smith's setup as well as the SW setup. (picky)
