Throwout Fork / Transmission Installation order

Can you put the clutch fork in after the trans is bolted up or does it have to go on before?

Also do you pull the clip on the fork all the way into the slot on the bellhousing or do you just insert the front of the clip?

The fork must be put in before the trans is bolted in.
The pivot "snaps" into the endentation of the fork, before it gets to the bulge of the retaining clip.

Engine plate, flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, bellhousing with fork and bearing in place and trans. In that order.

Clip all the way on and boot installed.

When everything lines up, the trans slides right in and the first bolt can be run in by hand. once all four bolts are in, you can move the fork to disengage the clutch. Check it before you lock anything down.

Had to remove mine three times on a clutch/pressure plate change.

Just my $0.02

trularin,
What boot are you referring to?

trularin 06-28-2004 12:43 PM

I have a rubber boot that mounts in the bellhousing that protects the opening from objects and junk getting in the bellhousing throught the clutch fork hole.

Don't you have one?

It's what I have.

I dont....sounds like a good idea. perhaps I'll make one. On second thought making my own probably isn't the best idea
