Keep bugging Fernando! He'll eventually make sure you get one!
|
Tongue,
I've been bugging PETER since before Fernando was BORN!
I might get a Mass Card from him when it's my time ...:( |
I just "stripped" my entire firewall and am doing major overhaul to the engine bay and dash (new gauges, etc).
I was thinking of lining the firewall and foot boxes with something. Aluminum sheeting maybe, but hard to keep "nice and shiny"? Stainless steel, but what a pain to drill for mounting relays and such. The footboxes have a "round edge" on them at the top, making it difficult to fit the curve. Recommendations? And IS covering the footboxes/firewall with some kind of metal an "option" from the factory? Ernie |

sexzsn8k To be truthful I got the skirt for petes laundry basket from ERA%/ I got the Hat from Jim Holden when he was in the john and the hat hit the ground running:eek: I had to buy Jim a nice golf hat like the one in Caddyshack. :D It is easier to get a GT-40 than shirts ,hats, or jackets from ERA. I think there is a SUPER SECRET CLUB in ERA. :D Rick Lake

Ernie,
We have a standard aluminum firewall now. I'm pretty sure that it can be retrofit to your car. We also insulate the footboxes with aluminum-skinned foam insulation. On our finished cars, we rivit aluminum strips around the edges so that it doesn't peel back over time. There is, however, some pretty nice waffle'd stainless-steel-over-silicone-insulation that's also available. Just be careful during installation. I've lost a lot of blood in the process. %/ I'll dig up some sources tomorrow morning. |
Man that sounds great Bob (emptying my piggy bank as we speak). :D
I HAVE to have at least the insulation on the outside of the foot box area. I'm getting tired of buying teenis shoes to replace my "melted" throttle foot shoe! |
Bob,
Do YOU have an ERA hat or shirt??

Peter gave me hat when I ordered my ERA.
Bob gave me two hats to leave him alone. Then there was a $500.00 gift certificate towards the purchase of another car from SOMEONE ELSE!! TURK |
Bobby,
What gauges are you ordering? Smiths look okay, but they are not the most reliable in my book. Replaced a few already, and they are still somewhat problematic for me. AutoMeters or SW are another option. My SWs were great in my last car. Something to think about if not already determined. Look vs. function |
I just got my Autometers today. When I talked to Peter at ERA recently he said they were an excellent choice.
However, the tach and speedo are to BIG to fit into my existing dash holes! Bummer, I'm not sure how I'm going to enlarge the holes yet. ...by the way, they look great! |
I'm planning on the Smith gauges because I like the look. The Autometers do look good and if I'm not mistaken cost a fair bit less than the Smiths. I don't believe that ERA offers the Autometers as an option though, so I might have to see how that can be worked out.

Hello, Has anyone had experience with ERA'S differential with the outboard brakes? thanks
|
I have one on my car
I think it's a pretty popular option. I don't have many miles on my car yet but it seems to work fine. I know one guy with an ERA with the regular jag rear and he has wheel hop pretty bad on moderate to hard accelleration.
The ERA outboard rear looks well engineered, I'd recommend it. Chuck |
Mine has the optional also but haven't put it to the road yet....
|
It must be me!
Twenty years of trying and no frigging hat,**) and I think the shirt came off my back. P.s. the new rear with outboard brakes is a great option IMHO, I have had both. Easier caliper bleeding, lighter weight and adjustable. |
Is it to late to jump on this bandwaggon? I don't have a hat either!!! :D
|
I don't wear hats, I want a T-shirt!
XL please.
Chuck |
