427SC Proper ride height

Can anyone tell me the proper ride height (front and rear) for the 427SC ERA replica? Either bottom of frame to ground, or perhaps center of outer wheel lip to ground.

Thanks in advance,

Bill S.

If you own an ERA, you can get the manual as a download with that information. E-mail me at eracars sbcglobal.net

Bill,

Here it is from the manual.

"Front

The specifications for the standard front spring preload are on page 46. This will result in about 7-1/2" from the ground to the bottom of the front crossmember (5-1/4" to the front of the main rails). The specifications shown below are predicated on the standard tire sizes: 235-60 and 295-50-15. You may change the front height to suit personal taste but be aware that the oil cooler scoop will contact pavement if car is too low.

Once the height is correct, tighten the front upper control are pivot bolts. See Page 87.

Rear

If you have adjustable spring collar shocks, the rear height can be adjusted to taste. E.R.A recommends that the main chasis rails be raked about 1/4" to 1/2" from front to back."

Bill I don't know if you need to see more from the manual. Let me know.

Chris,

Got the downloaded manual(s) from Bob this afternoon. Once I get the silver FFR out of the garage, I'll get the ERA out of the trailer and start tearing into it so I can get it on the road by spring...

Thanks..

Height for an ERA SC

Bill I sent my car up with a 5" height front and back at the corners of the frame behind the front wheels and ahead of the rear ones. The look and stands was good. If you want the car to handle, get the car weighted on scales. You want your body weight in the drivers seat. I did my car with my fat a$$ in the seat and the balance on the car was 5 lbs side to side front and back and made a 3 second differents on a road course. If you are going to go by a tape measure at lease add your weight in the drivers seat. It is well worth the money to setup the car on scales. Find a dirt track racer, and a case of beer or $50.00. It's the best money spent with the most return so far. Rick Lake:)

Rick:

So, it's a question of $50.00 or a case of cheap beer?

Does the beer get consumned before or after the weigh-in?
